I received a call from someone at GM HQ today who asked me several questions about my PDIM. I'm sure Jeff hooked me up with him. Hopefully they'll resolve my issue to the best of their ability. Clearly, they're at least interested in it!

I know, it's a sad thing that we know more than then service advisors and sometimes the techs.

Today they wanted to charge me to some labor time because of my Hurst shifter, I had to tell them that the shifter does not need to be removed to replace the PDIM, I had to go and show them where it was.

GM is continuing to work with me on this. I've received a couple of phone calls from GM Corporate, and the Camaro is back in the shop today after a decent conversation this morning with the shop foreman. And, they gave me a loaner car (brand new Traverse -- only 15 miles on it!) while they look at things this time.

It is nice to know they're keeping on it.

Got a call from the service department today. Finally, they've ordered the DB/DD PDIM and are installing it today. =)

Well, DB/DD wasn't the miracle cure I hoped it would be. It is much better... My iPod hasn't crashed once since the update, which is a vast improvement. However, the popping/crackling issue is worse than ever. And, I still get the "..." for filenames sometimes, although the iPod no longer crashes if I select one. It just plays whatever song it should be. Indexing is also faster.

So, it's an improvement, but the crackling makes listening to music fairly unenjoyable.

Anyone else w/ DD still experiencing crackling?

Jonny......if you go back and read the majority of the problems, if not ALL, of thhe crackling issues.....its only people that are using some APPLE product.....do yourself a favor and just get a nice 8 gig flash drive and put a crap load of music on it and be done with it......save yourself a LOT of aggravation.

The problem is that I listen to a lot of audible.com audio books, and they aren't mp3 files. They need a device to decode the .aa format.

I might do as you say, though, and just listen to audio books through my Garmin. The problem with that is that I've been buying all my music from iTunes for a long time, and I don't think they'll play as they are on a flash drive. So I'll have to spend some time re-ripping them.

this is true....I wife has an itunes account.....and not long ago they made it possible to burn cd's out of your itunes account in MP3.....then put them on your PC in file, them move them to a flash drive. Yeah its a pain.....but there is more than one way to skin a cat!!

Ahhhhh, I hadn't caught that. I'd read about it, but thought people were just saying to burn CDs and re-rip them, but then you have to re-enter all the metadata. So you're saying you can rip an MP3 CD, which would hold around 100 songs, and retain all the mp3 song info... That's not quite as bad...

Anyone know what hardware version this may be:
http://www.shopchevyparts.com/electr...641-p-959.html

If this is not the latest, can someone send me a link? I need the module, harness and the USB plug.

Also, anyone know the approximate cost to get the stereo programmed? I can do the install myself.

I'm not even trying to explain it to the SMs here in HI. The one I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about when I showed him the posts from here and gave him the info to research. Of course I got no call back and he didn't seem thrilled to have someone trying to explain to him that there are updates available. I'll wait until the car gets to the Pensacola/Eglin FL area in January and check back then. I do agree that there is something with the iPod/iPhone issues since that is what I have.

Sorry to hear that you went through so much trouble to get the latest PDIM, only to find it didn't completely solve your problem.

I was also experiencing the crackling and popping, and after reading this forum called my dealer, Criswell Chevrolet. The service manager, Dina Benedict, was fantastic. I called her and explained my problem. She wasn't quite sure what part to order, and I gave her the part number I obtained from this forum. She went ahead and ordered the part, took them about an hour to install it, and all the issues I was having are gone.

For those of you getting the run around from your dealer, I suggest checking with other dealers in your area. All dealers are not created equal.

I think I'm done w/ my dealer. GM Corporate asked me to take the car back to the dealer and have them work w/ GM Tech Services and try to get the problems completely resolved. So, I made an appointment with my service department, like GM Corporate told me to.

My service department called me back and told me they were cancelling my appointment because they can't do anything more for me. I explained that GM Corporate asked me to make the appointment, and the service rep told me, in not so many words, that he didn't care, and that until GM Tech Services told them to do something different, they were done with my car.

To be honest, I was willing to just give up and deal with the fact that it's not going to be perfect. (It is certainly better.) I am rather irritated that I followed GM Corporate's directions and my dealer told me to screw off. (Again, not in so many words... but still...)

Jonny.......I would NEVER set foot in that dealer.....EVER.....right after I talked to the OWNER of the dealership and to ensure him that I would never buy a car from his dealership and the reason being....HIS SERVICE DEPARTMANT..... and I would do everything in my power to let every person you know and come in contact with to STAY AWAY from his dealership......then turn around and walk out.

Making an appointment at the dealer today to fix some small issues under warranty (namely a loose tie-rod end, ripped windshield wiper blade and an oil/filter change) and was also wanting to update my PDIM. Tired of popping/crackling and when it changes my imput source on start up is really starting to aggravate me.

Anyways, I just want to confirm something before i make the appointment: the part number I want is 22797218 and that will come with DB/DD? Is this right?

That is what I had installed back in Aug this year. But there may be a newer version available now.

Thank you Sir Nuke. I grabbed the TSB earlier while going through the thread.

Gotta love talking to the service appointment when they have no idea what a PDIM is. But my dealership has great staff and they listened to everything I had to say and got the parts on order right away. Finally, I will be able to listen to music without that horrible popping and it cutting out on me.
