Yeah, I don't like the strip either. I asked the dealer to remove it, but I guess it is not glued and attached in there. The pic diagram posted looks like bolted on. It is just an 'RS' item, which sucks. I will have it out eventually. What the hell is plasti coat?

On SGDM's big pic, when looking directly at it like that, you can see the strip is not exactly flush with the nose piece and there is a slight gap, you can see the chrome tabs. I went out in the garage, looked at mine, A GAP! YOU SEE TABS! WTF?! This strip doesn't look like it went on well, must have been an afterthought? Pretty bad. And you can't pull it up or anything to fit right. I'll bet if I went to the dealer, most would be like this. I just wonder if there will be a gap it removing, I may have to do surgery...

I haven't looked at it in a while, but this is what I remember. The chrome is installed on the fascia with three clips, but there are notches cut into the fascia for the clips. Not sure if there are other fasteners, but the clips are primary. So if you removed the chrome, you would see the notches, and the halo wouldn't light the full opening at the top.

It is trapped in position with the fascia on the car, so you have to remove it to get them off. The fascias are the same between RS and non-RS, they just notch the RS fascia for the chrome strip.

I think it would look odd removed but looks amazing painted or dipped black.

New front end is looking mean, especially the 1LE!

It would be cool if you could replace it with a lighted strip similar to the Halos.
Oops I see someone already mentioned it.

Took mine apart last week, and you can't just remove the chrome strip without revealing holes along the top of the grill and two largish holes on either side of the fascia next to the headlights.

The only option to remove the chrome strip (without it looking really bad IMO) is if you replace the RS grill with a non-RS grill (even then you will have the holes on either side next to the headlight, which would bother me).

In the end, I plasti-dipped mine and really like the way it looks.

Yes, remove front fascia, remove 2 bolts, then undo a million clips (not easy) to get the front grill out. Can't take it off without removing the front grill first.

Whenever I saw pics of black '14s with it, I always found it strange looking but now that I have seen it (and have it) in person, I kind of like it. At least now I know if I ever grow tired of it I can take it off and plastidip it.

Please post Pictures if anyone does it :-)
