Your max boost, dyno number, 1/4 mi stock cam

Im curious here. Stock cam only please. If you are or have boosted with stock cam, let me know LS3 or L99, which blower or turbo, your other major mods, max boost you ran, fuel octane, dyno numbers and track times if you have them.

Nitrous guys, you can play too, include shot size, what spark plugs you use and how much timing you pull for your shot, if you know.

Also let me know if it lasted or blew up, and if it failed, what caused the failure if you know. (like not enough fuel, detonation from too much timing, too low of octane, etc.)

Mods in sig. L99 never had intake or rocker covers off. Without meth I ran 12 psi for a season, no issues. Sprayed a 125 shot pulling 3 degrees a few times, datalogs look perfect. Right before winter I went up to 13 psi. Plugs were Denso IT-22's but I'm now going another step colder to Denso IT-24's to be safe.

Over winter I dropped pulley size to what should be 14 psi and installed a small to medium sized shot of 70/30 meth/water pre blower. Since the compression is a little lower and the cam is smaller on an L99 than an LS3 I'm thinking the L99 with small meth shot should be about as safe as an LS3 at 12 or so psi and a little bigger meth shot. Time will tell if I'm right I guess!

Have never Dyno'd or been to track in this car. I plan on track visit or 2 this spring.

Thanks for the replies so far!! These engines can put down some power without going in them for mods!

I can't really speak to the exact question since im not an OE motor. But from lots of snooping. I thing the best bang for the buck, with the best future capability is the AGP twin setup with S256 turbos. Easily 650-700 on the stock bottom with some fuel upgrades.

Then 800 or so is easy with a cam and a little more fuel.

If i had it to do over again......no question AGP TT

I added some for your 20s.

Was that run in high elevation/hot air (bad DA)?

No disrespect-just track this for myself and others.

Thanks
No thread jack at all, discussing non cammed setups is what this thread is for.

If he goes up to 10 psi, puts in a good converter and gets a drag alignment in the rear he will be bottom 11's or high 10's I'd bet.

We are at around 300'. It was high 70's that day (my temp gauge in the car said 80). I don't think the local guy that did the tune really knows what he is doing. I really believe there is more in there. My plans are to upgrade pulley 3.6 or 3.4, ID850, ADM controller, ZL1 plugs, 3 Bar MAP, JRE Super tensioner and have Ted do the tune.

The DA was around 1400 or so If I remember correctly. I just asked for a tune. That is what I got. Yes I was hot lapping so that could have part of the problem. Our track opens soon. I plan on running it again 2/23 if the weather holds. Then have Ted @ JRE tune it.

I don't think your time is all that bad for only 6 psi, conservative tune and stock torque converter. Might pick up just a little with another run but not much.

You mentioned ZL1 plugs. If you are still on stock plugs you need to change those out before running again. Why don't you put in the ADM FPCM, ZL1 plugs (I suggest the Denso IT-22's), pulley down to about 8 psi, ID 850's (if you need them, not sure of your current injectors)then the SCT and have Ted tune it in before going to the track again? Consider that drag alignment too, you might need it to hook all that power. Then down the road when you want more go with a 2800 to 3200 stall converter.

Sorry for the thread jack!! I will change the plugs first. I just want another run with that setup. I already have all those parts. No I don't need ID850. I just wanted them. But some day I want to cam it to around 600 RWHP.

Thanks for all the input!!

I thought there would be some more high boost setups. Am I the only one pushing past the 12 psi mark on a stock cam?

I wish the 1/4 mile fast list had a category for stock cam, stock internals, but anything else goes. Converter, gears, meth, power adders, anything, as long as the engine internals including cam are stock. Would be nice to see a list of speed out of these things without being opened up.

I'll bet she runs strong! When you installed ZL1 rockers did you change the springs or pushrod? I'm assuming the ZL 1 rockers are 1.8 ratio?
