Painting a Camaro?

Does anyone know of a good, high quality place to get a paint job done in Houston or even Austin/Dallas/San Antonio? How much does it cost and is it worth it? Right now my car is red and I would like it to be charcoal/gray.

Not sure of a place but to get a good decent paint job where they will take it back down to bare metal and paint all the door jams, under the hood, etc. expect around 6-8K

I think that'd depend, frankly I'd have been willing to pay more if I knew my car had a good quality paint job instead of the factory stuff.

You might want to rethink doing a paint color change. I would highly advise against this. I would just sell your car and buy the color you want.

Mmmm this sounds like a viable alternative. However, if he's done a lot of mods or there's some sentimental value, it may outweigh the cost....

Sell it and buy the color you want. If you're dead set on painting then a quality shop will paint the entire car including the trunk and engine compartment. IMO you're looking at $13-16k for a quality job.

I am a paint and body guy and take my advise no paint job done proffessionaly is going to be as good as the factory paint the factory has rust prevention and the bumpers is made of plastic there fore sanding them could cause waving and will take the value of the car tremendously down but its all in what you want

Why not just get the car wrapped? This way you get the color you want, and when it comes time to resell you have the original color and in pristine shape. Win win, see?

Stripping to bare metal on a car that's only been painted once is also a waste of time. But stripping it bare does mean rust is now a real concern

to do it 100% properly you would basically have to gut everything from the car , engine trans dash etc , then you have all the concerns with that stuff being removed and reinstalled properly , and as others said the concerns about rust

Have you considered doing a wrap instead of an all out paint job?
