removing rear brakes to fit a 15 or 16in wheel to drag race

I know this sounds crazy but what would happen if you removed rear brakes just to race?

Yep, that's crazy alright!!! I wouldn't even consider that an option. Here's a better idea....buy some used V-6 rear brake calipers and rotors from the classified section here on Camaro5. They will bolt right up to your car....then you can bolt up 16" wheels and STILL have fully functioning rear brakes!!! To get 15's to fit, there are conversion kits available....but they're pretty expensive.

You would lose all the fluid in the rear brake lines as soon as you applied the brakes.

You asked.

Wouldn't have to. It wouldn't be able to leave the garage, most likely.

17's nothing if you're not lowered.

16's you need a complete v6 conversion.

I don't have the parts off hand but its easier to buy a set complete. The parts new cost over $800 from GM.

I think it's just the rear calipers and rotors....if I'm not mistaken. Oh, and of course, the brake pads. Can anyone else confirm??

You would be able to leave the garage, just wouldn't be able to stop at the end of the driveway!!

All you'll need to do is zip tie the e brake cable back so it doesn't rub. Takes two minutes.
