ATTENTION People from Arizona

As the temperatures go up, make sure you keep your cameras handy. I used to live there we would see lots of GM test vehicles in the Mesa area.

I don't know I'm still scared from that damn song in the 80s. "look at all the zoners, surrounding me every day." Some radio station in LA did it as a spoof on "Rumors"

it's kind of a CA / AZ thing. You know how in AZ we complain about the snow birds. Same thing to Californians in the summer.

Then what should I call everyone from Arizona? I was raised thinking that everyone who lived in Arizona was a Zonie. Didn't realize that some of them don't like that term.

As for snow birds, they are a pain. My parents live in Yuma and they are everywhere right now.

You're probably right. It's not a big deal. I'm just wanking.

My only problem with the Snow birds is that they still drive like there's snow on the ground.... drives me nuts. you're in the middle of the desert....

I've lived here since 95-ish, never heard that term, but it doesn't upset me and I knew exactly what you were talking about, so I guess it's as good of a term as any other!

I was born in Phoenix and have lived here all my 60 years...the term 'zonies' originally came out of S. Cal as a term of derision...just like we 'zonies' have used the term 'snowbirds' to deride the visitors who come here only during the winter (and 'interrupt' our lives).

In recent weeks, we've seens quite a few commercials on TV from S. Cal inviting us to come back and visit - the economy has caused many of us 'zonies' to stay home and S Cal, it seems, really does miss us - or, our $$ anyway (just like we'd miss the snowbirds if they stayed home and hurt our economy).
