One more ZL1 hood question

So still a little confused on this carbon fiber hood insert.

1. My window sticker states carbon fiber hood insert; yet the car has it painted in Ashen Grey.
2. Ran the build sheet on GMVIS, no RPO for the option from what I can tell, some are painted some exposed?
3. Looked around G5r looks like they do complete replacements, but no ZL1 hood insert listed.
4. Not quite sure I would want to spend 1500 for exposed carbon fiber...but are there other options....opinions.

When the car got ordered I was expecting it, but I do like the way it looked so it was not a deal breaker...but now I seem to be dwelling on it.

The factory sticker on my ZL1 had listed an Exposed Carbon Fiber Hood and mine was painted. There was a price of $600 I think for the Exposed.
I took it back to the dealer to get what I paid for replaced.
The painted looked good too, but the carbon fiber is nicer in my opinion.

Exactly. They are all made of carbon fiber, but the 'Exposed Carbon Fiber' option gets you an insert that just has clear coat on it rather than paint.

Since the carbon fiber is visible on the ECF insert, much more effort has to be taken when they make it to make sure the carbon fiber fabric is laid out perfectly so the weave makes a nice regular pattern. THAT is the reason the ECF is an $600 optional cost.

And there have been a few posts about people having blemishes come up in the exposed weave clearcoat, of course they get replaced under warranty but who wants to have their car in the shop for warranty repairs. No problems with paint at all.

I'm the kind of guy that if I replaced every body panel on the car with carbon fiber I would paint it so it looked stock. Other folks want the bling.
