Helmet Recommendations

Need to get a new helmet. Road course. I am new to non motorcycle helmets but have a good understanding of motorcycle helmets. Someone please "learn" me something.

Can't go wrong with a SA Snell rated helmet.

Having never bought a helmet, will your hat size dictate what helmet size you get? I haven't found any place local to try them on, and I don't want to run into fitment issues like with different shoe makers for example whose size 11's run small so you better get a 11.5.

SA rating has to do with fire retardant ability and measures the impact a bit different than DOT. Road course get something with a good field of vision which is more important than in drag racing. Otherwise its all about comfort and proper fit like any bike helmet.

I never did uodate this. I bought a GForce from Summit and returned it right away. Fit was really bad and helmet felt cheap. Bought the Simpson Bandit with the Iridium lens and couldnt be happier.

The main thing is the SFI rating, cant go wrong w/Simpson helmets.

If you order from Simpson, pay the extra $$$ for HANS latches for your helmet. Im lucky that I live in SoCal and drive to LA and drop off my helmet. It also gives me a chance to visit friends.
