Good trap speed but slow 1/8th mile speed! Getting retune
This has been killing me for some time now! I notice my car is not running what it should because my 1/8th speed and ET is just not on par. Now I dont know if this is a tune issue or what. My avg 12.40 runs with 1.86-1.90 60s are giving me 87-88 mph with 8.1-8.0 1/8th mile ETs
My car will trap 115-116+ so I have the MPH for low 12s if my car actually would run 7.9 at 90-91 MPH in the 1/8th like it SHOULD!!! In my attempt to run what my car should be running! I have installed ls7 plugs and ditched my stock pipe for 3" exhaust. These mods seemed to have made a noticeable difference on the street! In 2 weeks I am going back to Speed INC. to have my car retuned! Should I explain my slow 1/8th mile issues to him, what are the chances he can adjust my tune properly to fix this problem! I feel it has to be in the tune at this point, I now have the proper exhaust and my intake setup has proven to be working well. I have not been to the track in 2 months because of this, waiting for this tune and good air! If I am still stuck after this I am gonna be very upset camaro owner!

I don't think there is anything in the tune (on an M6) that is going to make your 1/8 mile ET and mph suffer but then have a strong back half.
I've got a bunch of timeslips on my old SS that were 1.9x in the 60 and then 8.0-8.1 at 89-90mph......and were 12.3 to 12.4 at 112mph. When my 60' came down, my ET went with it and my mph went up. I think a lower 60 will get your 1/8 time down and speed up. And at 116mph....you've got enough to get well into the 11's if you can get the car to 60'. |

Thanks for the response! But see what you just said is what is killing me! Your car ran 1.9 60s at 89-90 and trapped 112 and ran the same ET as me.
We both have the same 60ft but your less powerfull car was running faster to the 1/8th were mine is down 2 mph from what it should be! Thats what is frustrating, even if I pull say a 1.80-1.75 60ft idk if my car would even pull to 90-91 still! This is were I am loosing my Et My friends GTO even though its auto, runs 1.7-1.8s 60s and traps 90-91 1/8th but only pulls through the finish at 112. He beats me most of the time because I cant keep up with him up to mid track... then I start running him down hard at the big end.

My car will run 8.0's all day @ 89mph.....best 1/4 12.49 @113 and this is on stock rubber with a 1.88 60'. I thought I too should have my tune checked but it seems
there are others that just perform better w/same mods.I know air and track conditions are to be taken into consideration...but you always want to go faster.I would love to have your trap speed of 115-116.

Yep 8.0 at 88mph, not great for a car that runs 116 traps. We will see what my exhaust and retune does, I know my car has picked up some with the exhaust. It just better pick up were I need it to! Last time I was on the dyno I had a much smaller air filter setup and stock exhaust. So my guess is my tune is not spot on anymore, not possible since my engine is moving more air. My luck is I will trap 117s and still run 88 in the 1/8th!!!

I don't care how much horsepower you have, if your 60 foot sucks your ET will suck. Someone just posted in the 1/4 mile fast list post that he went 10.92@149mph. |

Here's a perfect example.
These are two passes that I made in my SS. The only change between these passes was I was on the stock torque converter on the first pass and a 3600 stall on the second. Both passes were dead hooks. Pass 1 Pass 2 60' 1.97 1.64 MPH 30 34 1/8 8.05 7.43 MPH 89.9 93 60' time goes down, 60' speed goes up, 1/8 mile speed goes up. And I know timeslips don't show 60' speeds, but HPTuners datalogs do. You're too focused on what your 1/8 mile ET and MPH are, and I think you need to focus on your 60 before worrying this much about anything else. If you want the car to ET....you've got to get it to 60. M6 cars that aren't getting low enough 60's do exactly what you're doing. Poor ET with close to what they should MPH. It's happened to me with every M6 car that I've made passes on street tires. |

Mike,
My car is auto, stall, bolt-ons, drag radials and I've gone 12.20 about 6 times with 368RWP. I think you make more power since you are LS3 and cammed. So you run 4-5 more MPH than me in the 1/4 but my car is more efficient for drag racing: One slip: Running 7.9 and quicker in the 1/8th for is like Dan said will be dependent on your 60ing better. 60fts are dependent on track prep, how your car likes to leave, gear size, converter size, lots of stuff. What RPM do you leave the line at? When we getting together at Byron or NLR.

After the 19th when i get the tune I plan on going soon after! I have tried launching from 3500-5500 and I guess I just haven't found the sweet spot then. Seems that 5k was working the best last time, car was bogging very easy unless I get pretty aggressive with te rpms.
