Starting to come alive
I just hit 250 miles on my car, and as soon as it rolled over, it seemed like the engine came alive. I've been taking it easy- only taking it over 4k rpm once, but there is a huge difference. All of a sudden the car seems to want to climb the rev-band with less hesitation.
I know some people have posted about how their engines came alive at 1400 miles or so.... Should I be expecting it to become even peppier?

Unless yours just settled in early, I would think you should see a subtle increase in power. I had kind of doubted the so called break in hype at first but man was I wrong about that I also think there were times when I took mine well over the 4k rpm before she was broken in but I looked at it like.....it's a car and it's made for this. No doubt about it...the car comes alive after the 1000 mile mark

mine seems to get a little better everyday. I read somewhere that all the way up to 4K the engine will get better, by then it is pretty much where it is going to be.

I take it easy on a new motor for about 150-200 miles to make sure the cambearings have taken a seat, then I rape the shit out of it non-stop afterword.
As much full throttle acceleration as possible, but without sustained high rpm until the 1500 mile mark. My motors always have great leakdown % as a result. |

Mine was real quick to climb to 4K RPM from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd almost to quick, it was unexpected and not always a good thing! Its settled down now and the throttle response seems to match as I depress the pedal. I think the car and I are used to each other now, its smooth as silk!

I did me first oil change at 500 mi. At about 900 to 1000 miles is when I noticed a power boost when rpm is over 3000. It seams to be starting out earlier in the rmp range as I get more miles. 1200 on it now, come on 1500 so I can realy get the rpm going at see what she can do.

I have had mine since May 5th and have also been on a couple of long roadtrip vacations. I have 6500 miles on it and it seems to have settled in and is very smooth. Power is great and the gas mileage is at 25-26 with 80% freeway and 20% city, both driven very hard with lots of hills. The fun hasn't worn off and My wife still calls it my "Yellow Prozac" because It makes me happy.
