Cheap Ebay Catch can

I understand the Elite series and what not are well worth the money due to the baffling and what not contained within. But moneys a little tight and would rather do SOMETHING in the meantime in the ways of one. Can someone explain the baffling? Does this just slow down the gases? Does that mean you could just place some form of sponge or meshfilter (half a shower sponge for all I know) halfway inside to slow the fumes and slow air velocity thru there to catch more particulates?

The reason that cheaper cans do not work as well has many factors. One of those things that do make the better cans work is that the filter media does in fact slow down the gases. Why slow them down? Because, the more time they have to cool, the more likely that the oil (in a vapor state) will cool and change to a liquid state, thus coming out of the gas and collecting in the chamber.

All catch cans would perform better if they were cooled, because the temperature gradient would cause even more oil vapor to condense and be caught.

I wouldn't put anything in there that you are not certain will melt, dissolve (remember, there are other things in those fumes besides oil and air) or otherwise become a permanent part of your engine internals!

I read a popular media is foam lawn mower filters. Think there is any truth I. the matter? I have no experience w this car as I've only had it 3-4 weeks and want to do SOMETHING until the spring. I pretty handy w a wrench but getting g used to a new car is always intimidating.

Bottom line, you get what you pay for. If you plan to keep your Camaro for a long time, just save until you have enough to get a good one. Just wait a little while & get one of Apex's new ones or an Elite. You will never regret it if you love your car. Just IMHO

Camaro V6 application will be available soon. Should have a final prototype bracket later this morning.
