Red Rock Metallic vs Crystal Red Tintcoat

I just got back from my dealer and they had 2 examples sitting right next to one another. I must say the CRT is way brighter than I had thought. Much more than the older Red Jewel Tintcoat. The Red Rock is more of a bright burnt orange than a true red. When you get real close it looks like a darker sunset orange from a 4th gen. In the shade you can't really tell them apart, they are so close.

This topic had to be one of the hardest decisions I eve made.
...
When I ordered my 1LE I originally picked RRM. I really couldn't decide between the two till I walked in the dealership one day and seen a new display car. I believe it was a 2014 Impala in CRT and it was absolutely stunning as the colors/flakes really "popped". Coincidently, it was the same day as the last day, to put in orders for the 14MY before the orders were accepted. So I changed it to CRT and it is awesome. But RRM is still badass looking on a 1LE.

My pics suck, lol. Seeing them in person side by side, made the choice clear to me. CRT all the way!

Here's the RRM 1LE that showed up here a couple days ago. It's ok but I still prefer IOM.

There is no doubt that RRM is a beautiful color from some of these pictures. I can also see the slight similarity to sunset orange metallic from the late 4th gens. However, it is no replacement for IOM.

Agreed. IOM was perfect as an orange, literally. Wasnt too dark, or too light, popped in the sun but still stayed orange. Even in the shade it didnt get dull, just reddish.

I have CRT, and to me, I would still like it lighter. I see the metallic red on a kia, or toyota, etc and it literally just looks like Victory red, with flake in it. Which is what I would think is perfect. Crt does look like this in certain light.

CRT is a tad too dark sometimes, and gets a purple/pink hue in certain lights. Id say its 90% of the way there, but its still my favorite color.

Color is subjective, not objective. I think both are really sharp looking.
Thanks for the pics!

RRM is freakin gorgeous. It reminds of my favorite color of the 4th gen era, which is Sunset Orange Metallic. CRT is gorgeous color as well, but Im just more partial to orange. Nice job to GM on this color. Now all they need is the green and Laguna Blue from the C7 for a well rounded color palette on the 5th gens.
