So what is everyone's thought about nitrogen vs air in my Pzeros??
Who's running N2 and can talk to us about there gains/or losses? |

From my experience, it is not worth the extra cost. I didn't notice any difference in tire wear, or performance. But then I don't run on the track, there it might make a difference.

the greatest diference is that nitrogen is an inert gas so the pressure does not fluctuate as much with temperature changes like air also its dry contains no moisture so you wont have any corrosion issues.

Air in Earth's atmosphere is mostly nitrogen to begin with. Consider that. But you do get to legitimately run with green caps on your valve stems, so there's that, too.

Sort of answering your question...
I own a nitrogen tire filling setup. The benefits to owning your own Nitrogen filling setup include not having to own/store/maintain a large compressor, it is very quiet and you don't have to worry about getting moisture inside the tires from a poorly maintained compressor. It is also easy to get to it in my tight garage. I did have to buy a Tank, Regulator, Hose, & End Fitting but the tank refills are very cheap if you ever run out of gas. Hasn't run out of gas yet. Much less expensive than the cost of a decent compressor.
The rest is just hype. -Mark. |

I had nitrogen in my tires (once) on my Corvette and I saw the same pressure fluctuations as normal air, so I didn't bother keeping it up. Not worth the cost in my opinion, but luckily I didn't pay for mine.

I think British Top Gear did a test and found it to be a waste of money. The temp even fluctuated more.

I have been a cryogenic tech for 10yrs and I can say that is a waste of money..... 78% of the atmosphere air is nitrogen... Most places that sell nitrogen isn't of pure grade. UNLESS YOU HAPPEN TO MAKE YOUR OWN....

I only used N2 since Costco Tires come with them. But what happens when you need a little air? If you fill up at a gas station then it's pointless. For daily driving you won't noticed any difference.
