Flex fuel sensor

It might be BS but I was told a shop here in the midwest fiqured out how to put a flex fuel sensor from a Silverado 1500 in a ZL1. They said it only took one wire hooked up to the ecm harness and all the fuel maps were already there for E85. Claimed it really woke the ZL1 up.
I know..I know, sounds fishy but........what if?

Dave steck from dsx tuning is pushing these and a local car here has it done and appears to be a very legit option. I'm sure there is some tuning required though.

What shop are you referring to

Its true. Dave Steck of dsx tuning makes his own sensor that does just that. You can retrofit it. Some people are wiring it up in conjunction with meth injection kits too.

Camper beat me...

If there were any e85 stations within 10 minutes of my house I would get one of Daves sensors

Its been being done for some time now,Dave just happens to be capitalizing on it and marketing very well.My hats off to him as it works great and with a bit of tuning can be well worth the efforts on forced induction - http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ght=adm+e85%5C

Dave wrote a great guide on how to use flex fuel. He also makes a box that allows you to adjust ethanol input to the ecu for things like meth, n2o or race gas maps with the flip of a switch. Goto the hp tuners site to see his guide.

Dave has done lots of those FFS conversions, not just on the Camaro. When you use the sensor the PCM actually adjusts based on the content of ethanol/gas. If you fill up with 93 and top it off with E85 a hundred miles later you'll get something like E31. That's why the sensor is nice to have, and it's easy to do.

i have this box on my car. the flip switch is nice. I drive around on my pump gas/meth tune. and at the flip of a switch I have my nitrous tune ready to go. the same switch arms my nitrous and loads the correct tune for it, soon as my pass is over I just flip it off and driving tune is right there.

To clarify, Dave doesn't make the ethanol content sensors but a signal generator. His kit comes with the sensors and all the parts that allows you to mix E85 and gas at will like Andy and RDunn stated.

I'm thinking this winter i need to get a hold of Dave! I live in ethanol country and have a fair amount of experience with E85.
