13.2 at track tonight

First time I ever took this car to the track was tonight. Only got in 2 runs. Best was 13.274 at 106.58. I beat a newer 5.0 that ran 13.405 at 108.59. I beat him on the light and spun a little less 2.027 60 ft to his 2.257 60 ft. I had him by about 2 1/2 cars at the top end. My car still has original P Zero's on it. Is practice gonna get me into the 12's? If not what to do next long tubes & high flow cats or drag radials? Limited budget only can get one at a time. Looking at my numbers which way should I go? Mods are in my sig.

Get some traction. More power isnt going to do anything is youre not hooking up. Get that 60ft to about 1.7. Then add power.

I actually left the traction control on for that run. So that should mean the car has some more in it with practice I think.

I was going to go tonight to MOKAN with my buds but had to work late.
Pretty good times for what mods you have.
Seem to match pretty good with other peoples run times with the same.

Sorry, I wasnt talking about traction control. I meant get some sticky tires and do some suspension work to distrubute the weight better. I would love to go racing but our track is closed at this time and I work Friday nights.

Tires, suspension and practice. You'll go 12s easy. Your having fun is the first step and don't beat yourself up on your times. It is alot more rewarding when you keep it fun and set small goals. The 60' is the key right now for you. Keep a record of temps, barometer, humidity and density/altitude, tire pressure and you'll see how the little change your ETs. Open your hood between runs to let the hot air out, take off the plastic engine cover so the intake can get rid of heat quicker. Up the front tires to about 60 PSI <<<----- TRACK ONLY NOT STREET. Remove any extra weight from car, Coats, boxes, that you would normally carry around, 100 lbs is about .10 reduction in ET. HAVE FUN!!

Internet weather suggest that you were running with the temperature at least up in the upper 70's to maybe low 80's.

Cooler weather and better tires - I'm guessing that you're still running OE tires. If that is the case, "better tires" need not mean drag radials just to get into the 12's.

Also, please keep in mind that DRs are not rain tires, and they will lose some of their grip due to heat cycling just from driving around town on them in the dry.
