IOM bumper re-paint (yeah I know, again??)

I have had my car now for about 2 weeks. The difference in color between the metal and plastic is really bugging the hell out of me. I thought I would be able to let it go but it seems to get worse everyday. I was looking at it yesterday and noticed it looked a little "blotchy" on the left side. After a closer look, I got even more depressed. The paint does not look even. It looks like there are black blotches in the paint, almost like there is not enough paint on there.

My question: has anyone requested to their dealer that they re-paint the front plastic? If so, did they do it? I am seriously thinking about asking this to be done under warranty. I know, I know... someone is going to say "it's not the paint retard, it's the light." Please hold your comment because I don't believe it.

I had the front bumper cover repainted on a grey Mustang years ago. A Ford rep and to come eyeball it before they would cover it, but it looked 100% better after it was done.

Honestly, if it bothers you (and lets face it, you paid a chunk of money for a perfect car) question the dealer and ask to have the zone manager take a look.
The "New GM" says they are making a committment to their customers, so ask and see what happens....

I see your car is RJT. Do you notice this with your color?

firestone: your car looks good. I have thought to myself several times that I bet it would look better if painted by a body shop.

I would take it to the dealer and have it fixed. I have seen several IOM Camaro's and about 50% had really bad paint match on the bumpers, the other half matched perfectly. Don't buy into the theory that plastic parts will never match, it isn't true.

It all matters how good your dealer was. When I bought my HHR SS a year ago there was a blemish on the bumper and the dealer repainted it ASAP! No GM rep was needed. And it was so minimal that my wife couldn't eve see it, she thought I was nuts. But the dealer was cool. All matters on the dealer.

Can we see a pic or two?

I have noticed some of the more recent cars look even better in the material transistion.

If it's defective then they should repaint it.

There are no perfect cars. Almost no one can duplicate the lasting quality of factory paint. Approach it yes, sometimes the cure is worse than the illness. Paint matching can involve blending into adjacent panels where the finish quality is good. As you build up layers of paint & clear you have a condition where expantion & contraction between these layers causes cracking & crazing over time. Sooooo, way you options carefully, everything has a price.
