A word about Spy-cars (headlights!)

I got this from an article on topspeed.com talking about the new Vauxhall Insignia (Saturn Aura) where the engineers were talking about disquise/spy photogs and the like. Heres an exerpt on something we have been disgussing so much! link after---

Headlamps and rear lights are especially difficult to disguise as vehicle licensing authorities stipulate that a car’s – even a prototype’s – cone of light, brake lights and all other exterior functions must meet legal regulations. Unfortunately, headlamps and rear lights are a popular means for designers to make the cars’ brand easily recognizable, and therefore must be well disguised. To do this, camouflage experts fit simple, round lights from an accessories shop to the rear of the car, and make special components for the headlamps.

There is no point to having camo on the Camaro, its the same car that everyone has seen at autoshows and in transformers. They have nothing to hide.

That is a good explanation for the Headlights on the Camaro Prototypes.

Thanks

makes sense. The engineer said the headlight assembly on the test cars were hand made for the test drives and that they wouldn't look like that in final production.

I do get the feeling it's abit over exposed, it makes the normal 3 year development cycle seem like 5.

Wow, that's brutal. I'd hate to be a mustang pulling up next to your Camaro!

Though I do think making new people registering click on a box saying they understand the current spy headlights are not the production headlights would be cool and funny.

We should agree upon some ground rules for joining the site, including that all new members may be temporarily kicked from the site if they ask a headlight, grill, or release date question.

I said it in another thread, and I'll apply it here:

Anyone who asks about the headlights is a terrorist.

I am all for having a short little agreement before signing up. Include headlights and gascap location for a start. We don't need to ban them from the site for mentioning things, but there could be a thing that gets added to their member status for all others to see.

I think it was fbodfather that said something about the grille not being finalized yet, and the engineers that have been testing the cars in Fla. have said that the only thing on the mules that is going to stay the same, for certain, is the sheet metal. I'm not too concerned about it though, aftermarket companies will have plenty of options if the factory grille doesn't look as cool as we'd like.

Since your new you ought to join the heated debate about the optional trunk rope in the thread about the white mule in a parking lot...

I don't know how to break it to you guys....but some of these ideas maaaaayy not be the most welcoming. After all.

WE are the ones with all the info - should we keep it to ourselves and scold the ones who ask? Or share our infinite (not really) Camaro knowledge with the new members, and get them as psyched up as the rest of us? Be a good example - have patience with the new ones. They are hear to learn...so learn them.

I hope the funky grille doesn't make the cut, which it probably won't.

^It shouldn't.

And, asking new members if they are the real headlights or not is more of a spam checker, you know? hehehehehe...

Like the other day when I signed up on another site and they asked what GM stood for....as spam block protection.

"Before continuing your registration process, we must make sure this is not a spam bot. Please check the yes or no button for the following questions.
1. The headlights on the preproduction model are going to be used for production.
2. The gas cap location on the production version will be on the drivers side up top.

hehehehe...naw...let's continue to try to help, folks. Answer the questions the best you can. It only takes one person to answer the question and point someone in the right directions. Thanks!!!
