After replacing the top...

After replacing the top about a month or two ago...the rub / pinch marks are back.

Time to notify the manufacturer pursuant to Florida's Lemon Law.

Sorry to hear this Edwin. If you don't mind me asking, what was your build date?

I don't know off hand, but its an early 2012 (I bought it from dealer stock in February 2012).

It is possible that even though they replaced the top, they didn't perform the rest of the TSB work to keep the wear from happening again.

No. The service manager advised me that the tech had to work through about 85 pages of instructions, and there is a visible difference in the way the top sits when its open (more clearance at the back to prevent chafing against weathestripping). His tech has done several of these before. Unfortunately, it didn't completely work.

Take it back buddy. Sorry to hear.

You can check your build date on the driver door jamb white label. Mine was built in 1/12 and the "prevailing wisdom" is that troubled tops were "fixed" after 4/12 but mine is fine.....so far.......most tops are okay, I have read a few problems with 2013's, it happens. I saw a Mercedes vert that took the term "ragtop" to a new level it was so bad.

Good luck man.

Very sorry to hear about your convertible top marks. We're here to communicate with the dealers regarding concerns that arise so feel free to contact me privately and I'd be happy to help you coordinate an official diagnosis of this issue.

The fixes to the water bag and tops were put online in February of 2012. My first 2012 was built on 7/26/11 and the top was replaced at around 1500 miles and eventually bought back. My second 2012 was built on 4/4/12 and currently has had 13,000 trouble free top down miles.
Bring it back and start the lemon law proceedings if you must.

Thanks. FYI it goes beyond marks, as the top itself is already frayed.

Twintitan: No mistaking your top's issues, dang.

Couple things: Your dlr. sending it out means he doesn't have a qualified person there to do the job or extremely busy, thinking more the former.

When you do get the top back, inspect it 110% fit and finish, and cycle the top 3-5x and make sure it seats correctly when top is up (no gaps with weatherstripping) and when down, clears the area around it to avoid rubbing.

Lastly, watch your last bow the "5th" bow and make sure it isn't overly stressed. You are fulfilling that part of the process enough as is.

Keep us posted.

Best
