My Stripes Are A Dust Magnet!

I noticed that my vinyl stripes attract dust way more than the paint. Has anybody dared try to apply a coating of any sort on the stripes without causing the matte finish to gloss over or otherwise change the finish of them?

I second that they show every spec of dust. One method is go 140 mph the dust will leave quickly

Got the same problem here. Amazing amount of dust, and I bought SIM to help it look cleaner! The dark navy blue stripes are filthy! (but the rest of the car looks good)

Yes glaze of dust, I used Zaino's Z-16 tire gloss on the matte stripes, wow, what a difference, black color just pops (not gloss).

Black painted on stripes collect the dust also, this is just a dirty world. Can not keep anything clean with all the road work going on everywhere.

its cool, it makes it all the more sweeter after you give your ride a nice wash/polish.

Since my hood stripes will be hopefully redone since they were placed incorrectly, I might try some experiments with a few chemicals before they are removed. A buddy of mine uses this plastic polish called Plexus on his bike and swears by it. He says it works great for between wash touchups. Dust just falls off car. He says it won't change the appearance of the stripes. I'll have to try it.

Please tell if you find something. Because I have dust problems and if it rains I have water spots. My dealer said No wax on the stripes. So, I'm scared to use anything.

If only my stripes would get here- then I could complain about them with ya! Had my CGM for 3 weeks, but stripes are MIA. I guess GM is holding them hostage? I love my Camaro!

One product that helps is Finish Kare Ultra Slick Poly Wipe Spray Detailer, Anti- Static 425-2. Works great!

Any updates on this? I plan on putting the matte black stripes on my CGM 2SS and don't know which way to go? I have Z16 but wanted to hear from someone else that may have tried something already.

I've Zainoed over vinyl stripes in the past, with no "issues".

I've also seen the matt black stripes on the 5th Gens.. Those, I personally wouldn't put anything on. If I had them on my car, and wanted to remove water spots, dust, etc., I'd mix a carwash/water solution in a spray bottle, and use this to keep them clean.

I'd want to be careful with anything having a "matt" finish and keep it simple when addressing methods of keeping them looking good.

Oops I think the stripes I'm putting on are the satin, single hood stripe with the hockey stripes on the sides. Any difference on those?
