Exclamation Z/28 fender flares..

Spoke with Al Oppenheiser at SEMA.... Fender flares will NOT be available for non z/28's.... They are bonded to the fender/rear quarter.

Our only hope is the aftermarket.

Yes, I'm looking at you guys!!

Its not bound, it has lines all over it. Of its bound then I guess it's glued all over under those flares lol.

After market please make this available for us!! And be reasonable too

So much for adding the wheels then. Unless you want the dirt track look.

its filling out the gaps that concerns me going 19"s. Going 30/19 on tires are low enough plus having a lowered ride still gives that little room for a wheel gap adn having these flares will really help

The way I see it is if someone were to develop this, they would have to design a complete lower ground effects or use existing parts.

The flares are integrated into the rockers. Seems like it would best to integrate them to ZL1 rockers. I personally do not care for the Z28 rockers ( they remind me of conversion van step boards), front spoiler not much better.

I have been asked to do this already but was just a little to busy plus other complications logistically speaking.

well that and in all honesty, how many people would really buy these? would it even be worth it to create these for the 2% of people to run them?

I didn't create this thread to gauge interest which may be why there aren't more posts like the one you quoted.

maybe a very low percentage of owners would run them but isn't that the case with most modifications? There's definitely a market for them. look at all the different kinds of flares you can get for your FR-S/BRZ. Lots of camaro guys trying to fit the widest tire possible

We would definitely have a set! Need them to cover up 11" wheels on all 4 corners. We were anticipating using the flares when we chose the wheel offsets. What happens when you ASS-U-ME?... LOL. I say bring 'em out

I would run them, I just happend to stumble upon this post again. I think a lot of people would run them based off of the response when visuals of the Z/28 became available. I guess the only way to really find out is have a company that would actually manufacture them create a poll to get an idea if its worth putting into production. My guess is it would do just as good as the replica zl1 wheels, side skirts, bumpers etc. I think a good percentage of members enjoy being able to take pieces from different models (ex:bumpers, recardo seats, etc etc) and build their own version.

The manufacterers / forum dealers might not be chiming in on this but I bet they have their eyes on threads like this and then next thing you know they'll release a product. I'm betting on two forum sponsors that will do this.

Well the aftermarket vendor I have recently started working with has that in his mind of things to possibly come out with next year. But I think he has quite a few things on his plate before he starts the molding process to create a first production piece. This guy is talented so I am sure he can re-create it if he wanted to. If I collect enough dough early next year I can work with him to create me a one-off set and maybe we can go from there.
