Wouldn't that properly be the next ZR1?

Adding weight up high and up front skews both the car's mission and its perception away from what the Z06 is, same as adding F.I. to a Z/28 would. Being lighter as well seems rather unlikely.

A lot of people are saying the Z06 will be supercharged but they also said it will be called the Z07. I guess we will have to wait two more weeks to find out.

Yeah, there are lots of things about the C7 that people 'knew', such as the fact that the engine would displace 5.5L

I admit I was one of them when I saw the supposed LT4 leak but after a while, I think GM will surprise us. I'm still hoping it is naturally aspirated.

Yeah and the Z/28 is on barely street legal rubber also. The Z/28 will beat the Stingray b/c of its tires and brakes. Once the GS, Z06 and such start coming out. Then the Z/28 will lose out to those Vettes but it will also be much cheaper than them too hopefully. But i'd rather have the Z/28 simply because I don't like the looks of the C7

I'll take the $55,000 Stingray over the $75,000 Z/28 anyday...
Could you imagine putting $25,000 in mods on a Stingray what kind of beast you would have then?

People saying the z28 is faster than a z06 or zr1? Since when? The times are way better for a z06 and zr1. A base z51 c7 for $54800 with a tire of the same tread wear rating will probably be quicker than a z28 for $18k less (figure $2k for tires). You can get a brand new 2013 z06 for $65k or less, add some even better brakes and tires and be much much faster with a/c stereo etc.

Hell, put a zl1 on the same type of tires as a z28 and see what happens.

ZR1 ring time was something like 7:18
Z07 ring time was something like 7:22

i am pretty sure those are both GM times so with that - the Z/28 will never be a ZR1 or Z07.

I also think a regualr Z06 with the Z07 package was 8k more. So 85kish MSRP

At 75k cant see the attraction to the Z/28 unless you are a Z/28 / Camaro guy.

I can't believe some of responses in here, does GM make some kind of Z/28 Cool Aid? If so give me some, I want to think it's a better track car than a Z07.

The z/28 is on Trofeo Rs. Switch tires on a z51 C7 (which you will be doing after two or three track days anyway) and we'll see how that grip stacks up.

There's something about being able to track the same car that you and two or three friends could pile into for a night out afterward.

Getting that car to go faster around a track than it's appearance from a distance suggests just makes it better. If you're driving a Corvette, speed and low road course lap times are expected. In a Camaro or Mustang, not so much, which can only add to the satisfaction.

Those old enough to remember the time when Camaros, Mustangs, 'Cudas battled it out in under-5L Trans-Am and BMW's, Datsun 510's, and Alfa-Romeos fought for the under-2L title are perhaps more likely to understand.

All you say is right on the mark, but i have never liked the corvette, its a 2 seat car and the camaro is a 2+2 car, for me this car is more then a car its history, going back to a time when US cars where king of the hill, names that changed the car world.

To some who say its over priced i dont agree,There are lots of new parts, that costs a lot to R&D, when you add all the time spent, and add that to the car, you see how they came to the price.

This is a ones in a life time car, after the 5th gen is done there is only the units made, so get it now or........ :(
