Alarm system

I'd strongly advise thinking about an aftermarket alarm system, the stock alarms are basically garbage.

I've parked my car outside of my house for the last almost six months, someone on Friday night decided to smash out my passenger window, and tried to beat up my windshield it seems as well (both have to be replaced). Insurance won't cover it, no surprise, and it's gonna cost me a good $700 to fix now....My car is about 40ft away, I didn't hear anything.

Lol since Feb 2013 (when I got it) my Camaros been stolen once (found two months later) hit twice (both not my fault) and now broken into once...

The stock alarm does not have shock sensors. All it has is a fuel pump disengage if the starter is tampered with, with which there is an easy get around.

Why won't insurance cover it? Do you have Comp coverage? Is your deductible too high? My Infiniti was vandalized about 5 years and my insurance coverd it, have a $100 deductible. Sorry for your frustration.

that's what I was wondering. insurance covers vandalism too.

anyhow, all factory alarm is hardly an alarm. it goes off if a door is forced open, or opened from inside after the doors have been locked and the alarm activated.

Basically, my deductible is at $500 (didn't know much about or understand all this until yesterday) but even with "full" coverage, I have glass restrictions as I'm told.

Apparently the passenger window about $370 was claimable but would still leave a negative deficit, but they wouldn't cover the windshield whatsoever, even though it was vandalism and I had reported it to the cops...

Cest la vie

Sounds like you need a better insurance company.
This is a "comp" claim on most insurance policies.
If you don't have comp coverage, then you should think about it.

Even if you had an aftermarket alarm (with siren), the window can be smashed, the siren goes off and you jump up to see what happened.
The perps are gone by the time you get out there, and you'd be in the same situation.

Lol yes, I'm switching in December when I have to renew. I thought I was covered, as I financed the car...I was under the impression I had "full coverage" but apparently not.

Haha its a long story, basically a friend of an old roommate who I could "trust" moves in... Turns out to be a druggie, I told him he had to go, found my spare key and took off. Cops found it 2 months later, nothing wrong, but out of gas. But yeah my life is kind of messed up like that lol

Look into a 2 way alarm or one that has an app that can alert you on your smart phone

Alarm system

I have the Viper Smart-Start system so I can start the engine/arm/disarm/pop the trunk via my iPhone or iPad. It also sends me a text message with latitude/longitude/time-stamp when the alarm is tripped and I can track the GPS location. I also park inside my garage and I'm anal about parking it in public lots. I'm never more than 50 yards away. I throw two hard fists and I carry a Glock 17 with two 32 round magazines.
