Oh boy do I get a low bass drone at 70. Any easy fix for that one? The girlfriend is going to hate it.

Helmoltz...or something like that.
This really seems to work and kills the drone (or at least lows it enough that its no longer a bother). Just got to do it right or else it doesn't work...need the correct length.

Welll here are some side by side comparos of my old SOLO exhaust and my new ARK DT-S exhaust now that it's fully seasoned. The catbacks were running out of SW LT headers and the car was breathing through a CAI Inc intake. The road used has very little traffic.

Both of those sound like pretty good setups actually, but I don't recall ever seeing videos of these. If you ever find them, let me know.

2010 Camaro V6 with $342 pacesetter catback
I decided to go for it and give the Pacesetter catback system a try. The only sound clip I could find anywhere was the magnaflow hybrid with other mods, so I figured I would give it a shot and if I hated it I would only be out $342. My car only has a K&N CAI, everything else stock. For the most part, I am pleased with the exhaust, pretty good quality, sound is great, no drone at 70mph, but aggressive sound under even mild acceleration.
My one and only complaint would be the length of the extensions and tips coming out the back of the muffler, they need to be a bit longer so the tips stick out farther. I tried adjusting everything all the way up to the cats, just not quite long enough at the very back. Fit overall though was very good, good clearance all the way around.

You can add this to the list, I know it is a rasp monster, but that is about to change. 2011 V6 Doug Thorley Shorties and Flowmaster AMT axle back, CAI intake. In cabin with window down. I will get an outside video later today
Here is outside the car, I don't think the phone picked up on the rasp as well as it did on the inside, but you can definately hear it in a few spots, it is much worse in person. Last edited by metthem; 02-06-2012 at 11:23 AM. |

Added to first post today:
A nice comparison of what the Magnaflow resonated X (part no. 11386) does for a nearly straight pipe setup with long tube headers. -BBK long tubes / Magnaflow resonated X / stock resonators in place / no mufflers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no0GrlyyNKg -BBK long tubes / stock H pipe / stock resonators in place / no mufflers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYAF6UqEsUA

There was another member here that posted a video of a setup just like yours that showed the raspy noise very well with his flowmaster setup. Its always pretty bad right in the 2,500 to 3,500 range it seems. He added the resonated X and cured the rasp and seemed to be pretty happy with it.(Dang I wish I had posted it to the sticky!) I'd say it should work just the same for you. That said (as I always say) it may tame your growl a bit along with it.

Metthem....Gotcha!
Yeah those HFCs may just cure the sound...who knows. I'd drive it at least a week or two to give it more time to season and then if you still think the rasp just sucks...go magnaflow X

I noticed in your sig, it says you have switchblade silver interior. Switchblade is the Corvette color name that has the same paint code as our Silver Ice Metallic. Im just sayin.

![]() I have the optional GM (not from the factory) lighter than stock 2SS/2LT trim. The color is switchblade silver, whereas the stock is a tad darker. I switched out my stock cloth interior trim for it sometime earlier last year or maybe earlier than that...I don't know lol. Anyways..check it out sometime...Switchblade is the color name advertised for the panels...but I'm fine with calling it Silver Ice as well.

Hey KMPrenger, have you thought of adding a section with the sound clips to certain intakes? I think it would help if someone decides to buy an intake based on sound. Just a thought
