Scrming, I listened to your videos and it convinced me to go with the MRTs. I installed my MRT 2.0's yesterday and all I can say is WOW! IMO what the videos cant really do is represent how loud (and good) the sound is when you get on it. Right after I got them put on, I jumped on the freeway and could not believe the sound at 4K+ RPMs.

Glad to hear about another satisified customer. Which is why I went with the SCRMING V2 system by MRT.

Very informative thread, my ears aren't that discerning but a major factor that would influence my choice of exhausts are the performance gains. I've read through this thread and most of the supporting exhaust specific threads but haven't seen any performance numbers.

Can anyone make some statements as to what kind of performance benefits they've seen from any of these exhausts (particularly the GMPP)?

Thank you for your time and help.

Performance gains are pretty minimal with ALL of the exhausts...sad to say. Doesn't matter how much you spend...actually some of the more expensive still claim almost zero gains. But then again Ive never heard of any one of them hurting performance.

Almost all of them provide an increase in your MPGs (cept you will probably love the sound and get on it more which will cancel that out lol)

If I had to guess....the average top end gains we are seeing with exhausts is in the 5 - 10 range. Some systems provide the best gains around the 5000 to 5400 RPM range...where some are claiming as much as 15 or so HP and TQ gains, but when you get to the max RPMs that drops off.

Basically, find the one that you think sounds the best and go with it!

Yep...

reasons to change the stock exhaust:

1) Improved sound
2) Improved looks
3) Reduced weight
4) Slight performance improvement

Once again SCRMING hit it exactly.

I was going for sound first and for most, secondly I wanted to drop out the (what I call suitcases) stock mufflers, which does reduce the weight, and if the performance and MPG goes up then it is all a BONUS.

Thanks guys. So is it safe to say you start seeing real performance benefits with a header + exhaust combo?

I can see how the lighter weight would help, but hell it would be a lot cheaper to lose 10lbs myself!

With headers and exhaust, you can expcet to start seeing better performance. On a grand scale? Not really, but they do help. Long tubes, with hiflow cats, develop more, but are more costly. Shorty headers are less expensive, provide less power and require more work, but maintain the factory cats. The muffler side of things is more about sound then power, although you will gain some, I'm sure.

The real benefit, and performance gain, is the loss of weight. You'll drop ~50pds of the car getting rid of the factory mufflers and manifolds. Toss that in with the 10 pds you can lose, lol, and there is almost a .10 gained right there!!

Not too many additions here lately, but soon perhaps. Waiting on a possible clip of the JBA axle back, as well as a clip from RDP Motorsports of a cat-back exhaust.

I did just add a new clip I found on youtube a short while back to the bottom of the Magnaflow section. I'm thinking that this, plus a Magnaflow resonated X-pipe just could be my new setup. We'll see. What do ya'll think? With some good desktop speakers (with decent bass) or decent headphones I think they sound great, and with the resonated X, hopefully even better.

Here's the Dyno results for the Flowmaster American Thunder axle-back kit.
I don't know how much my Magnaflow resonated x-pipe adds to these gains, but it sure feels and sounds better to me.

Number of threads on this... the LM 1 is basically a muffler delete... most people do not like the sound...

I haven't seen anything of the Cherry Bomb...if I find anything new it will be posted.

Never did get the clips of both the JBA and the RDP Motorsports cat-back.

i saw like a 4 second clip of the cherry bombs but it seemed like the audio and video were ultra delayed from eachother and sounded kind of wierd. hopefully we can find some better quality vids.
