Throttle Response

Anyone heard of grounding the throttle body to give a better throttle response?

No, but porting the throttle body helps.

I've heard things about it as in taking a wire and running it from a ground point on your car to a screw on the throttle body for a better throttle response.

Yes, I've heard of it. It is bunk. There are vendor's out there that sell "Grounding Kits" to the ricer burner boyz. They promise all kinds of gains if you install a kit. It's all total B.S.

The throttle body isn't grounded?

How the heck does it work without a positive and a negative?

+1. Exactly. Derp.

I'm gonna have to look this up now to see the supporting argument. Curious.

Make sure you change out the blinker fluid and muffler bearings on a regular basis too for better performance.

Have a respectable shop port your throttle body and get a tune.

Don't wear it into the dealership though - it will void your warranty...

No no no.... the muffler bearings are now sealed on these newer models... no zerks either. No need to change them out. Blinker fluid is also sealed, new CVB models. Continuouis Variable Blinker.

Sorry OP, the guy's are just having some fun at your expense.

The throttle circuited will be closed, in that all the power needed is provided through the plug to the throttle body. Think of how it works in this manor. If you think of the power range of being from 4ma (zero power) and 20ma (full power) and the gas pedal is supplying that power based upon its position. When your foot is off the pedal then there is 4ma. Push the pedal to the floor and you get 20ma. All the current required is provided. Adding a ground will do nothing as it still would not become part of that closed circuit. Think of it this way. If you plug a light into your house circuit and turn on the light, and then you add an additional ground wire from the outside of the lamp to the ground of the wiring circuit, will the light become brighter? It can't because the circuit wires are not connected to the outside, or the case of the light. (hopefully)
So in the case of the throttle body, there is no circuit connected to the case. Now adding a ground wire might keep you from losing your throttle body if it falls off.

So, if I ground my Supercharger, how much more HP will I get?

Told one of my Harley friends about a pair of sunglasses that will add 10 hp to his scooter as a joke. He didn't believe me, but a few days later he was wearing the shades. LOL
