Tire Treatment

What's the best product to use to keep the tires clean and glossy black?
Any products out there that you would stay away from?

Armor All is crap. I used to rep for the company. It deteriorates rubber/vinyl. I reuined a set of US Divers equipment by spraying it on after diving season and letting it on all winter.

The Megiuars Natural Shine works great and doesn't destroy rubber or vinyl.

I use Black Magic tire shine as well!

And Patriot, I think that is protectant, not tire shine, but thanks for the information on Armor All. I won't be using it anymore.

Was at the Cleveland Auto Show this spring and saw a lot of people buying "Looks Wet No Mess Tire Shine". They were handing over money with no questions asked which I thought was kind of strange. This guy comes up next to me and asks for 4 cans so I had to ask. He said he comes to the show every year just to stock up and this stuff is much better than anything available at the auto stores. He then said "trust me, I've tried them all". Well after he left I asked for a demonstration and walked away with two cans. First you need to clean the tire with odorless mineral spirits, spray on and your done. Just used it on my Camaro two weeks ago and you need sun glasses to look at it. I just checked out their website and minimum order is 6 cans. www.supershinedetail.com
Best stuff I have ever used. Anyone else using it...please comment.

It's marketed to clean, protect and shine. It does clean and shine, but it deteriorates, not protects.

A simple test is to take a sample of the material you wish to use it on, trimmed to a known size. Immerse in Armor All overnight, then remeasure. It will have grown. If the compound you immered the sample in has no effect on the sample, no dimensional change will occur.

This stuff works great. It's a gel and you apply it with the provided applicator. No over spray. Sticks on the tires for about three to four car washes. I've been using this stuff for years. Never had an issue.

I really like Zaino. I've tried everything Armor All, Black Magic, Turtle Wax, and Meguiars offers plus some other small name brands. All of them slings, don't last more then a week or so, is too shiny and looks like someone painted your tires with high gloss black paint, and attracts dirt like a b**** so your tires look dirty after 1-2 days on the road. All of them I've used once or twice and threw away.

Zaino's doesn't have that extreme gloss look that the others has. Its very durable and looks clean for 4-6 weeks before you have to redo it.

Yeah, Zaino Z-16 is more about keeping the tires black, rather than wet. Also, it stays on the tire and off of the paint. Excellent stuff.

I like the way Zaino makes the tire look like you just left the tire store with some new sneakers.

Has anyone used Black Magic Titanium Matte Tire Finish?

They have a pretty compelling video on their website. http://www.blackmagicshine.com/produ...te-tire-finish

I've tried damn near everything over the years and I'm tired of getting crap spread all over my nice clean fenders. Heck, whatever the dealer used before delivery ended up on the sides of my car before I made it home. I'll probably give this stuff from Black Magic a try and it that fails, I guess I'll pay up and get the Z-16 from Zaino.

Stoners is the best. cost alittle more but stays shinny and doesn't turn the tires brown.

Nothing wrong with ArmourAll. Over 10 years ago it was a oil based product
and made a mess, but now it is water based and does a fine job.

A little off subject. But beware of getting any tire cleaner on the tread or having too much left on and the centrifical force moving it to the tread. I had just got my car from the dealer. I noticed that the tires were very shinny. Did not think much about it, heck you buy a new car it should look good when delivered. After a few days I went on a drive through the mountians. Going about 70 MPH, I noticed the front tires slid a little. Very scary!! This shut down my fun for rest of the drive home. Since that day I have looked at every tire cleaner in the store and they all warn of this. Be very careful.

Maybe I am the only one that does not like the carwash shiny tire finish. So many spreys are shiney. I like the natural, semi-flat look on the tires. Am I the only one??

I use the Black Magic Titanium Matte Finish. Has not slung off the tires yet. Easy enough that my son normally does them for me before we go out. Looks good but doesn't take away from car. The key to most of these tire cleaners is to wipe them off after applying.

I use Black Magic, but it slings a little if you aren't careful. You can just use Meguiar's interior cleaner on tires? The Wal-Mart here has it on clearance.

I was at a Advantage Auto store today and they were clearancing Black Magic matte tire spray for 85 cents! They also have the turtle Ice tire spray and brush for 89 cents. I assume it was last years stock. But, I got three of each and spent less than $6. I assume this stuff isn't going to expire or anything. Will see which is better this spring!

I recently tried that Black Magic spray on foam which cleans and then shines. I'd spray onto the tires before washing then rinse it off. When I was done washing and drying the car the tires would be nice and shiny without the fling. I would get a greasy film on my rims from rinsing off so I switched up how I put it on. I now spray the foam onto a tire applicator, then spread onto the tire after Im done washing/drying the car. The shine on the tire is amazing and there is no fling to clean up after a drive. I'll keep doing this from now on.

Only stuff I use. It literally lasts for weeks and you can put how ever bright of a shine you want by applying more coats. You just need to make sure your tire is clean but that is with all tire stuff.

Also, the stuff lasts forever as well. Ive had the same bottle for almost a year and it still has a little over half in it.
