Water in intake - car washed? Puddles? Remove air filter and check for moisture in filter box.

Head gasket leak - chemical test can reveal leaks where there is no oil contamination.

Among other possible causes.

I've got the 6 speed auto with 1600 miles. I tried to do a burnout with my foot on the brake,as I gave it the gas,it was belching gobs of white smoke. i took it to the car wash and tried it again, this time with no foot on brake and I still got white smoke, but not as bad.

Before the lifters were replaced did your car idle rough at a light. And if so does it still do it.

Check each sparkplug for oil contamination in the combustion chamber. If one looks different than all the others, you have narrowed your problem down to that cylinder.

Dealer replaced all 16 lifters. Oil in the intake. Apparently an "over aggressive" lifter will build-up pressure that gets vented through the valve cover (similar to the old PCV valve). Oil gets vented into the intake and then into the combustion chambers.

Did 4 burnouts today and could not duplicate white smoke. Put car in garage and revved to 4 grand and held it there,no smoke. Does anyone know if this is a re-occurring problem or just occasional?

There is another thread on this subject that includes a generic service bulletin on the issue. I had excessive bluish white smoke, rough idle, and severe hesitation. Dealer is replacing the lifters.

I am concerned about long term effects.

white smoke

Hey guys this is my first post. I just got my Camaro on Saturday, and I've had the same issue with my car. The smoke hasn't been as bad as the first time it happened, but it still makes an appearance every once in a while. I took it to the dealer and they told me that they couldn't find anything mechanically wrong with the car. They told me that they just think that the engine is just breaking in. Has this been the case with any of you guys? Did this issue just go away?
