Gas Mileage V6 vs V8

My V6 averages 18mpg.

The other night me and my buddy went to the gym and we drove each other's camaros, he has a 2014 1ss. I scrolled to his MPG and was floored to see his averaging at 17mpg. I guess this could be from the V8 being able to drop down to four cylinders?

By the way, what a difference, not in power necessarily, but feel between the two, brakes, suspension, feel in general was way different.

What MPG are you all averaging normally and what engine do you have? (No numbers about going down a hill, pressing the reset button and farting out the window to get some 36mpg.)

I could get 29 in my LS3 stock. now 27. I generally average 20 playing with it and with 3.91 gears. 25mpg @75. The V6 barley gets better mileage. 18mpg you must be driving it like a Camaro.

20mpg, 46mph average speed over 9600 miles. Mostly highway with some bursts in the triple digits and a track day mixed in. Hibernating for winter :(

Gas Mileage V6 vs V8

Lolol. My DIC says 12.6mpg with an average speed of 21.8mph. OnStar lifetime says 13mpg.

EDIT: I forgot to add, LS3. 1LE package.

These guys who say they get 22 + mpgs on an average in there SS's, , Yea right!!!! I don't buy it for a minute.
I get 15.5 and I drive it like I stole it, but driving like my mother I can get like 18 ish ..
If there magical cars are some how getting 22 plus then they must be doing the biggest granny driving PERIOD!!

I don't know like maybe shifting at 800 rpm in each gear.

YEA RIGHT!!

all depends on your type of roads and discipline. too much traffic around to play much. To get that kind of mileage you do have to drive it like just another car. Doesnt take much to bring the mileage down.

19.7 in my v6, mix of highway driving and stop/go. Could it be affected by the tires? (changed from stock p-zeros to Continental DWS for cold weather)

I have seen as high as 35 mpg on the highway cruising at 65 mph for a stretch of 25 miles. I routinely check it in the morning on the way to work on the highway resetting the DIC. I set the cruise at 70 mph for the 25 mile drive and see 31 - 33 mpg.

My overall avg. since new is 23.85 after 59K miles. This includes the 150 + passes on the drag strip, and countless spirited parade laps at the local road course.

Also keep in mind depending on when you check has a huge affect on mpg too. For example in the winter the gas is not as good and the air is more dense requiring more fuel. I have charted everything on my Camaro since new so I have plenty of data to pull from to date.

I wouldn't have the slightest idea. I check it in my DD every now and then, though.

I've only checked mine once in almost 3 years of ownership. After 5,700 miles, my LS3 Vert is getting 20mpg. That is 95% back roads and moderate/spirited driving. I bought my Chevy Cruze for gas mileage, the Camaro is a toy.
