Talk to me about Lysholm superchargers

Why don't more people put Lysholm supercharges on their Camaros? Reading about them they seem to offer good rwhp and torque compared to Maggie's/ slp etc and are much cheaper.

Looks like 600/600 is attainable with smaller pulley and long tubes.

There are a lot of threads and info about the other choices both centri and pd but very few threads about the lysholm. I guess I am just looking for some reassurance they are dependable (this will be a street car/daily driver 98 percent of the time) and to see if anyone has had any issues with them

Thanks for the responses -looking for something to spend year end bonus on next week.

A shop near me uses them as they are part of Vortech. The shop near me is RMCR( great guys if you have questions and they'll take care of you when it comes time to blow that bonus.

My Vortech-Lysholm sc has been great. I drive my car all the time in the Summer, have never had one issue. PM your email I can send some pics and give you some good information on it.

I installed one of these blowers and it seems to run good BUT the lower manifold casting was falling apart. around the intake port gaskets. I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this.

I never had any problems with mine, and I never heard of this being a issue. The companies like ECS, and Matt from FSP said only good things about this blower.

94guy, Did the guys from Vortech take care of this for your friend? Frank and others from Vortech sale/staff have been great to me over the years.

Also if you guys wanna see one making big numbers go to YouTube type Camaro lysholm (it's red jewel color) ECS built it, and it's making 7xx/7xx with their blower cam and custom 8 rib set up.

I meant, does anyone know someone with one installed on a GT500 or C5.

They are not common on any of the sites I frequent and there must be a reason for that...

Sorry I miss understood at first. I never been around anyone with a GT500 that had a Lysholm blower but then again most people up here I see with GT500s run the stock blowers/pulley and just do pulley swap/tune if anything. We don't hang with many Ford guys period, not saying there not good guys, just not a lot in our area.

But back in my terminator cobra days (silver 03), I new guys with 3.3 lysholm blowers. If you YouTube lysholm 3.3 a bunch of videos come up. They always seemed to make good numbers, just not as popular. Whipple, KB, maggie will always have a big name when it comes to PD blowers. Some people like to stay with what has been proven, I took a chance with my blower being different and couldn't be happier, well if it's was a forged motor, 8 rib setup and more boost I would be happier.

LoL looking through this thread I realized I posted a lot. I'm not trying to be the ambassador for the lysholm blower. I'm just speaking from the great experience I have had with the blower and I know there is others on this forum who have had good results with it.

The reason they are not well known is because they are primarily just a manufacturer of head units, and other companies brand and package them up for sale. They are used by a few name brand SC companies I believe.

Hey blownhotrodder sorry I got busy the last couple days. Pretty sure the kits came with 80lb injectors, that's was from mike@rmcr said on this thread.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=151522&page=2

RMCR seemed to know these blowers quite well, plus I think Frank at vortech said the same thing awhile back. I will try to send some emails out tonight for you and see about prices within the next couple days.

Yes thanks for the pm too. Not much out there on this kit, just trying to find out what I can. Think I may go this route, I want something different. 80's is a surprise, figured they would be lower. Thats good to have a little growing room.

In the PD world of 5th gen Camaros it doesn't get much different, and I told you how happy I was from the begining with mine, install was simple and power has been great.

I was told by a vendor that they are temporarily not being made as a tooling issue on making the superchargers has put a huge delay. Hope they get it sorted out by the time I decide which way Im going to go.

They are a good blower. we have installed quite a few. There still a 2300. the pulley combinations are the only hold back if you want to go really high HP. but if you want quality/dependability and dont want 750RWHP then there perfect blowers!

A 2.3L blower, whether it be Roots or twinscrew, is pretty much the same performance wise. I like to do things a little differently sometimes too. But, in this case, it may not be the smartest move. If they aren't making the stuff needed to build new ones, what will it be like in a few years when you need a part or two? Buying low volume stuff can be risky down the road.

Regardless which one you go with, a 2.3L p/d blower will lighten up that big girl quite a bit

Unless one is found "laying around" it looks like there are no Lysholm's to be had so I will have to rethink what I want to do now.
