Finally!! CamaroI Build Thread Begins!! IOM Camaro [COTW 2/10/14]

For all those looking to get a leather style manual boot for there Automatic. Prior to taking things apart be sure to make cut outs as shown below. This is done to prevent a gap between the cluster and boot.

The red line shows a better notch out to eliminate any gaps between boot and gauge cluster.

Notches also need to be made on the tabs to allow boot to slide upwards.

I just saw that CFD is offering a group buy on his shifter. If I get a knob from Epco, will I need to get the adapter kit, or can I just select the 3/8 16 thread size and will be okay for the install??

That is correct 3/8 16 size is basically all you need when ordering from Epco. No adaptor needed. Epco does include a large style "positioning nut" with knob, but discard that. Its way to big.

CFD will send thinner washers along with shifter to help aline the knob. Be sure to keep those handy. If you purchase a knob with graphics or lettering use a couple to line up correctly.

Check out new steering wheel from DCT!! Arrived today!! Very Excited!! Beyond expectations!!!! Photos do not do justice!! Carbon Matte with directional IOM mark! Leather is PLUSH and check out stitching!!

Was able to get new Wheel installed last night. Wish everyone could see in person. Photos don't due justice. Here is a write up of the extremely easy install process.

First disconnected battery positive and negative terminals. Waited 30 min as suggested by another member prior to getting stated with airbag.

First step is to locate holes on each side of the steering wheel. I shined a flashlight to view exactly what I was going after in small hole behind silver bezel. When viewing you will see a silver pin. Using a flat head screwdriver you want to press the pin towards the steering column. This will release one side of the center cover. Do the same for other side.


At this point the center cover along with airbag will come loose. I placed a towel underneath to prevent scratching other areas.




At this point take a flat head screwdriver and pry up on the yellow TOP tabs on the two airbag connectors. Once these are up you will be able to pull connectors loose. Give a good tug and will come right off. Set center portion aside.






Next your going to un clip this black connection shown below. I was able to press on release tab with my finger and then disconnected. You will not mess with the Airbag connector that is to the left.



Once you have above black tab disconnected you are ready to remove center Torx bolt. This requires a 1/4 Torx. Be sure you have this size on hand prior to starting. I highly recommend a Tox tool like the one shown above. Once this Torx bolt is removed you are ready to remove the wheel. The black connector you previously disconnected comes off with the wheel. However the only thing passing through the wheel is the airbag wires. You can see below that is only thing left on the column









At this stage you are ready to put new wheel on. Literally do everything in reverse you did above. Reconnect battery and all done. Now sit back and ENJOY!!!! Loving the new look. Much better than OEM for sure.

Couple of people have asked about my foot well lighting. I used two pod lights from AAC which can be found here http://www.automotivelightstore.com/oracleledpod-1.aspx with your choice in color options. As you can see with one pod light on passenger side gives off tons of light in that area.

We'll couple new add ons coming.

Today had QTP cutouts installed. Muffler shop didn't do any wiring. Will be wiring up this week inside my James Bond console. Was upset to get final photos, but next week they are putting the down shields on so will get more then

And last new hood coming along. Should have painted and installed prior to Cfest. Benefit of this custom design no glued in Vents!!!! Much cleaner underside with plenty of room to clear supercharger!! Just take a look at very last pic to see what current hood looks like underneath. Massive improvement don't ya think!! Will be posting more on this very soon once completed!!!! Stay tuned!!
