315 size rear tire...

For anyone that has put 315 size rear tires on their camaro..either 20" or 22" size rims.......Does the tire stick out past the fender lip?

I THINK Hennessey did it and got lots of rub. They fit in the fenderwell, but bumps made them hit. Don't quote me on this.

I believe it's also illegal to have the tires sticking out past the wheel well lip, precisely for the reason of safety. If a cop pulls you over they can write you a ticket for that.

On a side note, if there really are problems with 315s outback, a good solution may be 305s. I had those on my 04 cobra and they are still a nice upgrade from a 275

I could swear that I remember reading they come right up to the edge, with the correct offset. I do also remember reading Hennessey did have some rubbing issues, in-board, but don't recall if offset adjustments ever corrected that.

Personally, I like the look of them at least being flush with the panel - if not sticking out just a bit. 335s with an offset I forget on my '02 stuck out a little too much for me, but I liked the profile from the rear. I'd like to go with ZR1 wheels and tires for mine, so I hope it won't be necessary for any sort of tubbing.

FWIW - I'd been told by law enforcement my tires were sticking out too far and could get a ticket for them too. Consider yourself warned

Here is some pictures of 315s:

There were no problems with rub on the outside, but lots of rubbing on the inside, even in stock height she rubbed. We even removed the plastic inn fender liner as well and on hard corners she touched.

I have mentioned this many times. the larger the split configured tire you put on, the worse the understeer. The Camaro has a nasty understeer. On a skid pad, your g forces will go down. Just a heads up. a 295 would be a better choice. We also think a 295, with the correct offset, will work in the fronts.

Pedders USA just recieved their Red SS2. Already working with Forgeline.
More on this on a future thread

I remember those and thank you for bringing them back. OMG - perfect I'm eager to learn how things come about with the fronts too. Please keep us posted.

Is there more room to push the rear wheels out a bit more? I'm assuming the top of the tire/wheel increases in camber as the suspension compresses, so since there seems to be around an inch-plus room while the car is static, is there any chance to push the offset out a little more to gain the room in the wheelwell so it won't rub in there?...

Just askin'

Thanks Mike..............Just the information I was looking for.

BTW: What size rims are on the car in the pics? And do you know if 305 size tires have the rubbing issue. I'm asking because I do not want to have to remove or cut anything.... Thanks again. Look forward to the reply answers..........
