Sorry for the classical music, but YT kept ripping out the audio when I tried pop music.

Dude,

It is the trees. Watch it again and when it cuts and static you just went thru a high tree line. We get it on the Acura and Camaro going thru high tree lines.

Day 19 (not counting weekends)...

Just called the "new" service center. They said there is definitely a vibration problem. But, they are trying to get a laptop together so they can drive with the laptop plugged into the car for feedback and tests. Apparently they can turn off different parts of the system to see if that is causing the issue. They just don't know how long this is going to take to get everything together for the test.

I feel GM already owes me (some kind of compensation for) a car for the 10 days (not including weekends) I was without a loaner and wasn't offered one for my first visit. And I only financed a very small amount. So a car payment wouldn't amount to much. It's going to take quite a bit to get this bad taste out of my mouth. :(

I have a $6,000 beater truck with a $50 XM radio. It never cuts out. My wife drives a Hybrid Camry and I put a $50 XM radio in it. It never cuts out.

There is no reason a $42k car should drop 8 times in one mile (only with the sunroof open). It doesn't drop if the sunroof is closed.

Very poor design flaw.

Scott@Bjorn3D, I think you and I exchanged some emails back in the mid 90's. I was running a web site about a race-car simulator that was out at the time. It was kind-of a link directory to all web sites that offered information, repaints, etc. I think it was a Grand Prix or Formula One simulator. Wish I could remember...

Do you honestly think GM makes those XM Satellite antennas? Do you think the cost of the car should be a factor on your sattelite connection?

Drive your Hybrid Camry down teh same road, same time of day, in the same condition and let me know.

My Passat's after-market XM radio cut out all the time in between tree's.

I have. No issues. There are no issues with the Camaro either, as long as the sunroof is not open. Again, this is a design flaw.

I would contact Sirius/XM about it then.

I sold the Sirius/MX unit we had because it never worked when I was driving anywhere BUT the highway. Add a heavy tree canopy and it was gone.
Will see what happens with the Camaro, since I drive the same roads still. However I usually have the IPod hooked up these days.. so it might take me a while to notice any radio issues.

It sucks that you are having these issues. And is making me think twice about breaking my "rule" about not buying the first year this car is out.

If you (any one else) are not having this issue, it could be because you are so much further north that I am here in the deep south. The angle of the satellites may reflect differently on or around the sunroof since the satellites are at a lower angle in the sky for you than they are for me. Then the signal would effectively be going under the glass up there where it tries to go through the glass here.

Nashional,
I too have spent lots of time at the dealerships service department. I keep holding on to the fact that it's a first year. I understand your frustrations and hope they fix your car, if they haven't already. You posted over a month ago and I haven't read the entire blog about your car yet. Good luck.

The new service center called me late yesterday and said it was the drive shaft and they have one on order. So we'll see... I hope it will fix this vibration.

The other server dept. said they already tried changing that out...

Did you finally get a rental? Did you talk to your service department about having them file a claim to get your monthly payment paid?

I have a rental, this time. It's a soccer-mom car/wagon. :(

I'll talk to them about a payment. They should pay three to be fair since I only financed less than a third of the cost of the vehicle.

I called them earlier today and they say the new drive shaft should be installed this afternoon. Then they will call me to let me know if it fixed the problem (?).

If it did, I can pick it up tomorrow. If it doesn't, I can see this easily going over a month that I haven't been able to use the car...

Just heard back from the service center after replacing the drive shaft.

It did NOT fix the problem. And they don't have any ideas what it is...

I'm calling GM now...

GM is calling the dealer now and I've also asked for compensation. They said they would call me back after they gather all the information about my case.

This might end up being a longer process now. I would expect some type of GM tech guys and the area rep to come down and be involved in the process. They should pay your car payment while it's out, especially since it's going to take awhile longer. Keep us posted on how they handle this, see if the new GM still takes care of it's customers like the old GM.

I still haven't heard back from GM. I'll keep this thread updated as I know more.

I would hope they pay something. But what about OnStar, XM radio, Insurance? I'm still paying for all those services but not getting to use them.

Get the friggin car replaced via lemon law. This is fuggin ridiculous.

Its a safety issue, and obviously cannot be fixed at a dealer level. Get the car replaced.

If I recall correctly, I had the Onstar added on for three more months, I didn't pay to keep it after it expired. The XM, I had already paid for the long term, so this didn't matter. Nothing for the insurance. I forgot to mention, I also was given a 2yr 24K mile, (can't remember the actual name of the plan) free oil change and tire rotation package for my troubles.

If your not happy with your rental, tell them to get you something else, of course nothing will compare to the Camaro, but at least it'll help. I wouldn't let them stick me in a small SUV or a mini van, I wanted something that was close to what I was driving at the time and they obliged.

I will say that my service department manager was a big help, he did alot of leg work to get the stuff that I got.

I don't know if this will matter with the payment, if it does make sure they seperate the car payments. I got two months of payments in one check, so it only got me out of one month, the second half when to the principle.

heavens. I agree that they owe you at least a car payment, or two. But in all honesty would go for getting the entire car replaced with another new one.
With luck GM will be better about helping you out than Hyundai was with us. I had had our Santa Fe off the lot for less than an hour(25 or so miles on it) when the engine light when on. Then had to deal with the dealerships crap for another week while they tried to figure out why the light was on. Gave them multiple codes. They finally figured it out*someone had taken the air fitler out and gunk had gotten pulled into the engine according to them* til this day I do not trust that it isnt just going to kivie up on me some place

Over 24 hours since calling GM and I still haven't heard back from anyone...

At this point, the trill is gone. Maybe it will come back if I get everything sorted out.?
