Bolt on L99 12.557 @ 112.40 doesn't feel quite right need help

today was a DA of -600 i ran a 12.5 and i should be low 12's high 11's. i launched in this particular instance at 1200 RPM. when i launch i stall up hold it and on the last yellow slam it to the floor i launch from Idle, 800-900, 1000, 1500, 1600, and 2000. all with consistent 12.6's with 1.9 and 1.8 60' the time slips all look similar to this one. take a look and let me know what you think. most of my buddies seem to think its the tune. i data logged and will be sending it to TED Jannetty monday, but in the mean time is there any advice out there. i warmed up my Drag radials until i saw smoke. traction was not an issue, at least id did not feel like i was spinning. and the guys standing there said i didnt spin. Tire pressure was at 18 psi after a run it would go up to 19 psi.

Your 60' sucks. No other way to put it. With those gears, stall, and drag radials you should be in the 1.6's. No worse than 1.7. You must bogging at the line. The log will tell the tale. Any video?

Could also be a tune issue or problem with the car. You should be able to check your log and see what the pids show.

The mph is about right for those mods but a 1.68 60' would get you around 12.1. With your mods you're all about the 60' bc you don't have much power.

At least you know where the issue is.

With your power level you should stall that bitch up to 3500 if the car will hold. If it pushes just keep lowering the rpm until it holds. You need to leave as hot as possible. If the track is decent and you're burnout is good it will hook.

Right now your achieving 60' of a bolt on car with stock tires. You need to utilize that stall and gear.

I'm not sure what pids you are logging but some that are useful are rpm and mph. Together you can see any wheel slippage, shift points, tranny issues, lots of things.

i tried pre loading it as high as it would go a few weeks ago and any more than 2500 would push me across the line. so launching at 2400 only got me 13 flat dead hooking. people on the forum told me to launch from idle or 1000. i also talked with ted and he suggested launching at 1500.

No one can really tell you how to launch. You'll need to poke around and see what works. Theoretically if you can hook the car the higher the rpm the better. You can flash it, which is just hanging at or just above idle and mashing it or stall the balls off it. 2400 seems low for a 3500 stall to push the car. I'm guessing pro torque converter.

Bottom line is something is happening at the launch. You'll only get some brainstorming here so interpret the logs, correct the issue, and try it again.

ya its a pro torque from JRE performance are those crappy? but when i launched at higher RPM it just seemed slower. ive talked with several guys with less than me mod wise and they r in the 11's launching from idle, 800, and 1200.

Nothing wrong with that converter. Prob not holding you back. Seems like that converter likes to be flashed not stalled up. I've always had success flashing from 1000-1100 with the pro torque. Other converters like different methods.

So time to look into what's happening when you leave the line. Logs and logs. Is the car falling on its face, etc.

Take some time and learn to read your logs. Then you'll know instantly what's going on and not have to rely on anyone else. They are very easy to read.

Lots of good info here. I had a 1.9 60 ft with just bolt ons, on a hot rainy day in Indy for c5 fest, on factory tires. That should tell you something.

You'll need to follow the lines on the graph. Only open the mph and rpm pids to start. So you only check those two boxes on the left of the screen. On top you can expand the graph to make it easier to read. You want those lines to be as smooth as possible. Any bumps in those lines and something is going on. Depending on where the bump is you'll be able to narrow down the issue.

Ask Ted to go over them with you while your both in front of the graph. That's the best way to learn how to read it.

All I prob did is confuse the hell out of you.

Gotta keep working at it. I almost went 11's last year but had traction issues...

I went 12.37@112 1.85 no converter, no gear.

I went 12.06@110 1.70 converter, stock gear. (best mph 113.5).

Best 60 1.66 but was spinning.

am i just not launching as hard as i should cuz im not spinning at all if warm em up good. ive tried launching every way i no of and its comes out of the hole decent but not real explosive. i would figure with the 3.70, stall and the radials it would pull 1.7 easy, should i pre load up and on the yellow lights let the rpm fall and on the last yellow launch at 1200 as the RPMs fall to that. thats the only other way i can think to launch.

I would preload then drop. I think all that will do is generate a ton of heat which is no gd. Not to mention trying to find the launch rpm while the lights are dropping will be difficult.

Your car is going in the right direction, the last time you posted I think you had gone 12.8.

1.85
88mph
12.5
112.4

Best slip... I have gone 113.6 misplaced that one...

I'd like to get some 3.70's too actually and I'd be happy to run at least 11.85.

I'd be checking shift points, log some passes for your tuner.

Good luck, if you want to pm any q's I can try to help. I have messed with my own shift points so I could react to that. But for A/F type stuff I would highly reccomend you use Ryan aka Rhino79.
