BIG grudge match coming up

Hey guys i know this is going to be a little tough bc i lack some info, but i have a grudge match coming up with one of my fraternity brothers coming up on Aug 1st and was wondering what you guys thought.

He drives a BMW 335i with a "chip". I think thats all hes done to the car right now, but by race day he might have his exhaust done.

my 2010 has the TVS 2300, only going minimum boost though (6psi)

if i can hook up, will i take him? (i dont know much about BMW or what they can do)

Yeah, just stomp on the pedal and if you get at least a 5 second 0-60 you will win.. Unless the beamer has nitrous to go along with its 5.3 0-60 AVG..

His chip/flash/exhaust will up his boost and make him about a 13.3 car w/0-60 of 4.8 (numbers from Edmunds.com test of car w/similar mods). Your TVS blower puts you easily into the 12 sec range. 0-60 will be a traction contest, but you should then walk away if you're anywhere close. If it's his 1st time at the track and you're experienced, I'd guess that he'll sit and spin his 1st couple of times. Lot's of torque from him and track is different from street.

A stock SS and a 335i with his mods would be a drivers race. You have over 100 extra horsepower with the 6psi of boost. As long as you get traction and can launch he won't have a prayer of even keeping it close.

Don't know where you got those numbers...I owned a 335i for over a year and frequented e90post.com ... here is a comparison chart for some of the "chips" ie piggy back ecu units...check out the rwhp gain.

Don't know if you have to register, but this post will shed a little light on the potential...

Dinan is safe power, and high dollar, the more powerful shops are N54=JB1-3, and Vishnu. Those two tuners are competing for supremacy over there. Those guys will throw in race gas when they want to race and run a more aggressive boost map, some are trapping over 117 with these set ups.

Not saying this guy in the OP's post will, but low-mid 12's with the above mods and race gas are not out of the question.

Traction will be the trouble with both - I am sure you know to keep your front wheels out of the waterbox, but does he? ...that might be your edge.

Those numbers don't add up, could be because they look like they're from an add. Those motors are 300hp, and they are saying gains of about 80 rwhp, yet they are showing rwhp of close to 400, which would put crank hp at close to 500. 1/4 miles times of 12.3 @ 114 would be close to the 500hp #. I'm a little skeptical of those add claims and numbers. Turbo motors can really pick up from a tune w/upped boost, but almost 200hp is wrong, or they are driving with an IED under the hood. I think there is something else going on there.

Back to topic, How did the race go? My experience is that most of the BMW guys are more about the image part of the experience than the experience. Not all, but most. Very nice rides tho'

You need to google 335i stock dyno...those cars are under rated...fly wheel they are more like 350hp not 300hp from the factory. Go on e90post.com and do some searches....those cars are legit...I owned one and I am speaking from experience. I ran my bone stock 335i auto the week before I got my Camaro, stock for stock with the SS L99 its a drivers race. M6 SS with TVS and 335i with mods...you'd think the SS would win, all I'm saying is those cars are legit...CAI, catless DP's, JB3, exhaust, and maybe a larger FMIC and it certainly would get interesting.
