Splitter scraped - damage repair

I recently had to turn around on a small street and there was a driveway with a stupidly steep angled face on it. Anyway, I miss-judged how steep it was and I scraped the splitter backing out of it on one side underneath.

So now I have some scraped plastic that can be seen from the front and underneath that looks bad but probably is not affecting the performance of it. (Sorry no pics yet.)

So two questions: will this affect performance at speed or on the track? And what is the best way to repair it? (I was thinking of just sanding it down and calling it a day.)

I am pretty sure our splitters are just for appearance and the only front fascia that creates any force is the ZL1 facia. That being said if I am wrong, a scratch wont affect anything.

According to the video from Gingerman Raceway with Al Oppenheiser introducing the 2013 1LE, both the front splitter and rear spoiler are functional in creating the proper downforce. I do agree that a scratch will not hurt it.

Yes, this is more cosmetic damage than anything. Anyone recommend the best way to repair it? What grit sandpaper, etc... Me just knowing it's there you know?

Yes, the front splitter is functional. No, a scratch isn't going to hurt it. Sand it down and finish it off with some emery cloth and you'll be fine.

I would not be surprised if the 1LE does generate slightly more downforce with the splitter but the rear spoiler is the same as on a standard SS just painted satin black. I do want to get the ZL1 spoiler and underpan but just hate to tear into my car to install them...

I would sand it down then touch it up with some satin black paint... Grit really depends on how deep the scratches are/how much material you need to remove. As for downforce I wouldn't worry about it. You would have t be moving pretty fast for scratches to effect downforce

Wow. You can start to see the splitter and the front bumper separate a bit from the force. haha. Pretty good evidence right there.
