Auto Questions

Picked my car up a few days ago, already put 300 miles on it, and I'm starting to punish her a bit more. Is there any special technique I should be using/doing to get a little burn out of the tires or any chriping as I accelerate?

I've tried Sport (with competition mode/TC tapped twice), it accelerates fast as hell, but no tire burning and no chirping as I accelerate.

I've tried Sport (with all options off/7 second hold on TC), it accelerates just as fast (didn't time it) yet no tire slippage.

I know this is probably a good thing... but I've heard of other folks on here with L99's who are chriping their tires AND burning them a bit off the line.

Any tips? Suggestions?

Mine is the same way, others leave 30' tire streaks down the road.

I would suggest you continue driving your car hard. Do plenty of wide open runs. That stategy seemed to work on my car and it seemed to get stronger over a short period of time. My car only has 700 miles on it.

If I come to a complete stop (Sport Mode - TC off) and floor the gas, I get some pretty good wheel spin. And if I power brake to about 1000 - 1500 rpms (one foot on the brake while I give it gas to about 1000 rpms, it will start spinning the tires. Then you can add more gas as you lift up on the brake. That's an easy way to do a burnout.
But when my car only had 300 miles on it and it was 95 degrees outside, I couldn't get the tires to spin at all. All they did is hook up and I would take off with pretty much no wheel spin.

And if you really want to spin your tires, you need to get your car tuned and get rid of some of the torque management. That really gets the tires barking on the shifts.

Yeah, it seems pretty crazy. But a lot of guys are judging their car's power by whether it can spin the tires. And in most cases it will with the TC off. But the stock tires are very good and stick to the road really well in hot weather.

This winter in cold temps, guys are going to be wishing they could hook up.

Yes but if my car is hooking up so good why is it doing 0-60 in 7.68 seconds?

I see you live up North. You shouldn't have much trouble roasting your tires. Its down in the South on 95 degree days that guys might have trouble, because the stock tires get a lot of traction in the heat. That along with the fact that the hot weather reduces power.

In cooler air, the tires won't grip the road as well, and your car will be making more power. With the shifter in M (Sport Mode) with TC off, you should be able to spin the tires from a dead stop pretty easily.

But don't do it too much, those stock tires are extremely expensive.
