Advice for Camaro Fest Newbies

I have read through a lot a threads about Camaro Fest and know there are several of us going for the first time. I started this thread to get ideas to make the most of our first event.

A few questions I've seen and some of my own.....

1) How much cash should I carry?

2) Do we register in advance for autocross and drag?

3) Anything we need to bring?

4) Where are the best parties?

5) What should we expect from the vendors? New products? Special pricing?

6) Suggestion for the wife if she gets bored? (From my wife)

7) Anything I need to know I didn't ask?

The best parties are in the Parking lot, Thursday night after the meet and greet and every night after the days activities

Do bring cash cuz you'll want everything. Some vendors will have special pricing. Best to contact the ones you're interested in to negotiate with them. Biggest savings will be shipping
If your wife is bored Houston is probably twenty minutes away. Lots of high end malls and outlets. If shopping is not her thing there are plenty of museums as well. NASA is not far and Kemha boardwalk has restaurants and amusement rides. Plenty to do.
Hope that answered some of your questions.

Some vendors do installs also. As mp51998 said it's free shipping if bought there. Sounds obvious but bring a camera and batteries. So many different Camaros to see and get ideas from. Bring water as that seems to be a big expense if you buy it at the track. A lot of my detailing products I buy there because of no shipping.

1) How much cash should I carry?
As much as you might want to spend! Honestly though, I bring a couple hundred bucks.

2) Do we register in advance for autocross and drag?
Yes, there will be posts about registration in this subsection.

3) Anything we need to bring?
Bring what you will want for a fun filled weekend. Chairs, coolers with your choice of beverages, and pop-up style tents are a must.

4) Where are the best parties?
The parking lot of the hotels will be going most of the night. They are a lot of fun and you get to met a lot of great people!

5) What should we expect from the vendors? New products? Special pricing?
Show discounts, save on shipping, installs from some.

6) Suggestion for the wife if she gets bored? (From my wife)
I don't bring my wife for this reason, but other wives in our group just hang out with us or watch racing, etc. Other swim at the pool, shop, etc

7) Anything I need to know I didn't ask?
Be safe and have a lot of fun. And if you have never AutoX'd or drag raced, these events are perfect for trying it out. Safe and fun with other Camaro owners that just want to help you out!

Based on personal experience, avoid on-site installs. Some companies will rush to fit everyone in and do an awful job.

That being said, and having attended the last two C5Fests, it seems like the Hex Vent people are an exception.
