Anyone have Black w/CGM stripes & is it too 'subtle'??
I thought I was dead set on getting CGM stripes on my black camaro. However, I must admit after viewing a few of the pix on this site---are the CGM stripes almost too subtle to be seen on black? I originally chose CGM because I liked the metallic look of the silver/gray color---and also because I thought the 'regular' silver looked almost white on top of black (again, based on pix from this site). I'm starting to get confused as to whether the colors in the pix are just distorted, or if they are an accurate representation of what I can expect. Can anyone that has Black/CGM stripes give me feedback on the following:
1. Are you disappointed with your choice at all? (would you pick a different color if you had it to do all over?) 2. Is it really hard to 'see' the CGM stripes except in certain lighting? 3. Do you have ground effects, and if so, does the CGM striping match well? (or do you suggest painting ground effects black?) Any feedback you can provide would be MUCH appreciated!! |

I love the look of the CGM stripes on my Black 2SS. It is definately subtle, but it totally works.

a few more pics.......... The stripes "disappear in the shadows" but look great in the sun.... They also match the ground effects and interior......

ndnsith, you car looks great.
I will say, I saw one at my dealership that did not have the ground effect or the RS and I felt it did not look just right. I also had a sunroof, which I am not fond of on this car. Just my $0.02

ndnsith -- i see what you mean about the different lighting. Some pix you can't even see the stripes, but in the sun, they really show nicely. I'm also starting to like the unpainted ground effects with the CGM---would you say it's an exact match in color? Do you think they look 'unfinished' at all or do they look 'painted grey'?

What do you mean that it just 'didn't look right'? You mean that the stripes did not stand out enough?

"Subtle" can look really, REALLY good! I've seen a couple black with flat black stripes that look absolutely evil!

Sometimes it's hard to see the CGM stripes on Black, but man... when it's in the sun, it sure looks GOOD!

I have Black w/ CGM stripes... I think the CGM stripes match the black interior better than silver stripes would have. I also didn't want white or silver (which looked too light against the black) because in my opinion, it looked like skunk stripes against the black. I am thoroughly happy with my CGM stripes on the black. Subtle in some lights, but when the sun catches the metallic flake of the CGM, it is really jaw-dropping.
heres some of my pics, with some different lighting/angles. Minus my own thoughts everybody that has seen the car commented on the stripes first, and how it has a nice almost ghost look. Now my thoughts. I went with a subtle look and almost thought come game time it might be a little to subtle. But its perfect. You wont be disapointed.

I had not seen this combination til mine arrived. And I LOVE it. Camaros have to have stripes (IMO), but I really wanted subtle. The CGM stripes and Midnight wheels are a nice combination. If a tree fell on my car and totalled it, I'd order the exact same combination the next day. I took it to a little local car show, and people raved about the combination, with comments about "ghosted stripes," death star, etc. That said, it's all about what you want. Isn't that great about these cars!

So far everyone seems to be happy about their CGM stripe choice---I feel better now! I also may leave my GFX unpainted to help bring out the CGM stripes even more. If I decide it looks too 'unfinished', I can always get them painted black later. (Although I've heard doing it 'after the fact' is a real pain!)

Like others have said here, locomaro, it ALL depends on the light. At times it's very hard to tell mine has stripes period, but in sunlight they stand out almost like they were silver....part of the neat thing about them....subtle to pronounced all in one. I wouldn't trade the color combo for anything. Plus, the GM silver looks like white to me....way too light. BUT, if you want easily seen, stand out stripes in at all times, the CGM are not for you! No GFX here.

I've got the same exact car on order, shipped over the weekend.
I haven't seen the combo in person, but from the pics I don't think I'll be disappointed. Sweet ride. Quote:
