Talking Wheels! Your Camaro needs forged wheels.

As unique as the new Camaro is on the road right now, some of you may feel that the factory wheels are good enough. For those of you that want to take that next step towards personalizing your Camaro, I'm here to assist. First, a little about me. I've been in the LSX Camaro/Firebird scene since 1997, and have modified dozens of my own cars, as well as 100s of customer cars. All while doing this part time as a hobby on the side. I'm a mechanical engineer by trade, but cars are my passion. Fast and good looking cars, that is. I also write articles and do feature photography for popular magazines like GM High Tech Performance, Chevy High Performance, and Camaro Performers. Some of you may have even visited a site that I created, LS1Tech.com.

Anyways, along the way, I decided to do about $60K worth of buy-ins to become a dealer for multiple different forged wheel brands. I do not carry cheap Chinese cast junk. If you are looking for bottom-dollar generic or clone wheels, I'm not your guy. I prefer dealing in custom ordered multi-piece forged wheels. I enjoy helping my customers pick the best styles, finishes, and sizes for their particular cars. I like making cars look great, no matter if they are my own car or yours. I'm also a distributor for a few brands, and feed local Houston area performance shops with wheels for their own customers. I have a 2,400 sq-ft warehouse on my property.

If you are currently shopping for wheels, I'm glad to help. If you are a shop that rarely sells wheels, I'm also glad to help you get a set for that occasional customer wanting some. Feel free to contact me!

So, lets kick this off with some pricing. I've been getting a lot of emails lately about the iForged 22s I put on my own Camaro. Here is what I can get you a set for:

iForged "Formula Series" or "Precision Series" (ANY style!)
2-piece welded construction, forged wheels. Standard finishes. Rivets optional (no charge)

Set of 20x8.5 and 20x9.5 = Retail $3,950 - Sale $3,100 plus shipping. (fits factory tires!)
Set of 22x9 and 22x11 = Retail $4,700 - Sale $3,565 plus shipping.

iForged "Formula Series" or "Precision Series" (ANY style!)
3-piece bolted construction, forged wheels. Standard finishes.

Set of 20x8.5 and 20x9.5 = Retail $3,980 - Sale $3,280 plus shipping. (fits factory tires!)
Set of 20x9 and 20x11 = Retail $4,200 - Sale $3,350 plus shipping.
Set of 22x9 and 22x11 = Retail $4,910 - Sale $3,800 plus shipping.

Standard finishes are polished lips with either polished, silver, gloss black, matte black, or gunmetal gray centers.
Chrome lips add $300/set. (3-piece only)
Chrome faces add $300/set.
Brushed and clearcoated faces add $300/set.
Brushed and clearcoated lips add $400/set. (3-piece only)
Powdercoated standard color lips add $300/set. (3-piece only)
Custom paint-matched lips add $600/set. (3-piece only)
Custom colored lip pinstripes add $200/set.
No rivet option is available on 2-piece wheels.

These typically take 8-10 weeks to build. Plan ahead! I'll also offer a 3% discount if paying by check or cash (in person, Houston TX). Shipping typically ranges from $100-150 a set, depending on how far you are from California. Prices valid through Nov 1, 2009. - Extended to Dec 31st, 2009!

If you are interested in other brands, look at the links in my signature. Email me for a quote or to place an order. Email addy is Tony AT motorsports-media.com

Here is a little gallery of some wheels I've sold or carry. Might give you some ideas on a style or spoke pattern you like.

Thanks,
Tony

I agree. Forged wheels say something about your personal style and add an important piece of performance engineering. For those seeking high performance numbers, forged wheels are going to last through a long life of burnt rubber and high speeds.

Additionally, it is important to have wheels that represent proven brands. I cannot even begin to count how many attractive wheels I have seen on cars that lack a legitimate brand name. There are a lot of good wheels out there, and there are even more pieces of garbage wrapped in rubber. Those idiots may one day find their heavily modified performance machines riding on brake rotors instead of wheels. Don't be seen at the track with an embarrassment like that. Get some real wheels from a real company and a good community distributor.

Nine ball I will PM you shortly. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

I actually like the factory wheels. However, I am concerned that 20" wheels may not give the best performance. Pedders and several others have posted that a 19" non-staggered wheel configuration is the best option. What is your opinion?

I like the look of the iForged wheels in your picture. I have a 2SS/RJT RS on order. If I want a light wheel, that will maximize performance, what would you recommend?

"Best Performance" depends on what your intended use is. Will you need a set of wheels solely for the road course and autocross, or are you looking for more straight line/drag racing type setups? Will the same set of wheels/tires be used on the street too? Going with a smaller diameter wheel will typically reduce the overall rolling mass at each corner of your car. This will result in better acceleration and braking. More importantly, the brand and compound of the tires you select have a greater impact. It isn't just about width of the tires, like some people assume. You can have a wider crappy brand tire, and it won't grip as well as a good brand tire. For handling, pick the lightest wheel and the widest tires you can fit. For road course, tires may even stick out of the fenders as long as the wheels still turn without rubbing.

My lighter wheels will be Fikse or Forgeline. iForged also makes a 1-piece forged wheel (Track Series) that are very light. I'll have to confirm they offer a fitment on the Camaro in those.

Hey Tony,

This is Roger, we met at LMR while I was getting my CGM SS dyno'd there a few weeks ago. I was interested in some Fikse Profil 10 in 19's for my SS. Could you pm me some prices for them. I would want either the technipolish or full polish finish. Thanks.

Hey Nine Ball....thanks for giving the sale on the wheels. I'll probably be calling you once I see what my money situation looks like after the car is purchased.

I do have a question though. I'll PM you on it.

Bungalow, I'll confirm fitment on the Xtreme Lip series. They only come in 20s though. 20x9 and 20x11 would be $3749 plus shipping, in standard finishes.

Cool

I just ordered a CGM SS/RS with black stripes and GFX. Are your wheels gloss black or matte black? I prefer one that blends well with the stripe. Which style of wheels are on your camaro?

My wheels are matte black with a chrome lip. They match perfectly with the factory stripes. Style is "Sprint". 22x9 and 22x11.
