RS or not

so i have a conflict that i need some opinion about okay so my choices are

1. get the car now 2LT, no RS (what i really worry about), and get the cash for clunkers deal

2. order my car, wait for an unknown amount of time and risk not get the cash for clunkers, i would order 2LT with RS

so really my question is do you guys think RS is a necessity to add onto the camaro

thanks for you help

If you can afford it, I think it's a necessity. If you can't afford it, you don't need it.

But I am glad I got it, that's for sure.

Did this help?

Any option is really a personal thing, you have to ask yourself, how badly do you want the RS package, hence; are the HID that important? can you live with a black rubber for ditch molding or do you want the body color one ? which looks more classy in my opinion, how about the tail light, do you care if they need to be darker or not? a big one is, the tires, all season or summer. Up here in Canada, the RS package comes with summer tires, but the non-RS comes with all-season. If the RS package is what you want, then if I were you, I would order the car you really really want and wait for it. Remember it's alot of money and the worst thing I believe is to engage into years of car payment with the notion that you did not get exactly what you wanted in the first place for the sake of waiting a few months. Best regards!

This exactly. You're paying probably a VERY hefty car payment for this thing. There's no sense in doing it if it's not exactly what you want. I won't buy mine any other way than exactly the way I order it from the factory. But I'm paying cash for mine. Just my $0.02.

Get it how you want it. You can always upgrade the lights later , but if you want the rs, get that. I'll never buy another new car thats not EXACTLY what i want, because frankly, what the hell are you paying for? you'll always see one you "should have bought". i get that feeling everytime i see a regular cab shortbed pickup with the factory 18's....

To me the RS package was a must. I LOVE the hids and Halos. It is part of this car for me. But that's me.

So to answer your question.

Are they really expecting Cash For Clunkers to finish in the next 6 months or so?

do you think the rs package on the 2010 will be desirable in the future like it is on the 70-73 with the real split front bumpers?

Yikes, so you've only really got 3 months? That's probably too quick to hope for an order to be finished. You may be able to find a 2LT with RS on a dealer's lot somewhere, though. You'd just have to broaden your search. Cash For Clunkers is quite a nice chunk of change and I wish I'd been able to qualify - the EPA thinks my other car gets 23 mpg even though it really gets 16.

Get the RS man. It's what you want. Wait a little while if you have to save the money you'd otherwise be getting from C4C. You'll be glad you got what you really wanted in the end.

Cash for clunkers runs out in November or when the money runs out. Said 1 billion put towards the cash for clunkers but heard only 500 million will go to vehicles because the other half goes to administrative costs. If it keeps going like it is, may only last a couple months.

I say get on autotrader.com and find and LT/RS and cross your fingers driving it to the dealer that your clunker doesn't break down. You can update the headlights later but they would need to be rewired. Currently the RS in auto position has fog lights, in the 1st position it is the halos, and second position is halo and hid. Not sure what non RS is. Probably fog, headlight and fog, then headlights. No matter what you get, you'll love it!

If the car did not have HID/Halos would you not get the car? For me the lights are not the most important feature of the car and wasnt the decision for me getting one.

I did however order the RS package with mine and it came without it.. I didnt care either way because it looks great without it.

without the RS it looks more "old school" which is pretty awesome
with the RS it looks more future-robot style eyes that seeks out and destroys things.

The car looks great with or without the RS...

well i guess the one without RS is off my list since they don't accept GMS discounts which my parents are crazy about...guess its time to risk it and order

does anyone know any dealers that accept GMS discounts in Jersey?

and thanks for everyone's opinion

RS package makes the LT. 20 inch wheels, HID/Halos make it worth the $$$! Then you add the darker tailights, spoiler (on a LT) and the body colored roof moulding and it is just sexy! If it is what you really want you should wait and order the exact car you want! Nothing worse than buying the car now, and then wishing you had ordered one with the RS for the rest of the time you own it

If the trade-in for your car would be less than $2600 normally then GMS vs Cash for Clunkers is a wash. You would Make/Save $900 either way. At least if you buy it now, you can enjoy it before winter.

If there's one available, you could go with a 1LT and RS package instead of the 2LT - Katzkin can make/install leather with any number of different color inserts at a later date for ~$1500, and the gauges are available afterwards as well (although in my opinion they are ornamental). Be sure to get one with the convenience/connectivity package if you go with a 1LT - a must have as it includes the leather steering wheel and shifter. But like everyone else indicates, the RS package is a must have.

The RS isn't worth the $1100. Just for slightly different wheels, HID headlamps (which I personally hate, can't stand them in my rear view mirror. Others may not appreciate it either.), colored roof ditch moldings. The regular ones contrast nicely and I think the silver SS badges are sexier too. Thats just me though. If you gotta have it now and the CFC is helpful to you. Go for it! If you really want the RS, place the order and wait. Though the wait is somewhat excruciating.
