1LE shocks/struts vs. stock SS

I couldn't find anything on this so if there is already a thread please point me to it.

What is the advantage of 1LE struts/shocks vs. stock SS units? I have already upgraded the sways, bushes and end links on my 2010 SS. Just wondering if swaping for 1LE is any advantage.

Thanks

I don't know what the 1LE shocks/struts cost but I bet for the same or a little more money you could get a set of BC coilovers that would probably work better. You can get some BC coilovers for $1k. You could do Megan for around the $750 range.

The fe5 shocks and struts will be better than your current ones . But if you buy them brand new then yea you be better off with sum coilovers (bc) or Megan .

Fixed it for you. FE6 not FE5.

The FE6 1le strut and shock will cost less than half of a set of coilovers.
The damping is at least 25% shiffer than the SS.

You can get the 1le struts and shocks brand new for about 600-700 bucks , I'm not sure if you aslo need the rear shock mounts aswell , but if you do need the shock mounts then Add another $60 .

One other inexpensive way to go- SS struts/shocks got an upgrade to their damping rates in 2012, so just a swap to more recent take-offs (there's a set from a 2013 in the classified adds with just 900mi. on them) would make some improvement without getting a harsh ride.

There is also an add for 1LE parts there as well.

Yep I lucked out and got some brand new takeoff FE4's from SLP back when they were selling a set of 4 strut/shocks on E-Bay for $59.95! They even left the upgraded swaybar endlinks on the front struts!

Then I picked up a set of stock SS springs for just shipping costs from a good guy in Cali that wanted to clean out his garage.

Combined with Pedders rear cradle inserts I got what I was looking for in a firm, controlled but not harsh ride. And lowered the car too!
