Converting Auto to Manual?

Does anyone have any knowledge on swapping out a auto trans for a manual? Difficulties? Is it expensive? Options? Thanks.

If you could find the components at salvage or new parts. Unless you have a garage with a proper lift and tranny jack or tranny lift best to let a tranny shop do it.

Can cost from 1000 on up depending on what components you can scrounge up.

Have you considered a nice automatic upgrade?

Best bet is to find a wrecked donor car and get all of the brackets, crossmembers and driveline.

It's a big job.

Why not just invest in a built tranny? The 700R4 like you probably have has a lot of aftermarket kits available and can be built to be pretty solid.

I swapped a t5 into my 91z in my driveway. The only hard (and by hard I mean annoying) part was changing out the pedal bracket to allow a clutch pedal. Plus when you drill your holes for the clutch hydraulics be sure to add an extra peice of sheet metal to that spot. Mine eventually ripped my firewall. I didn know that on stock manuals that it was double walled there.

Seriously though sit back and plan it out. I did it when I was 19 with little mechanical knowledge. I could probably do that 80% drunk today and still do it better or faster than I did back then.

Oh and cut a nice hole for the shifter. Mine looked like Jaws took a bite out of my car.
