Looks to me like one of those lame Jeep Cherrokee SRT8's I've been seeing more of on the road. Wish Chrysler would get over itself and stop manufacturing SUV's, that are wasteful to begin with and then add a big engine to it as well; doubly-wasteful. POS. Seriously.

If you have ever raced on a drag strip, you would know that anytime any car leaks anything, the crew clean it and make sure it is safe before the next car rolls over it.

There are multiple ways to break in a car..I had mine on the track with less than 100 miles on it..same thing with both vettes and they are still running strong

Huh? NO! it is called unexperience on a track. From the looks he likely wanted to show off the car, didn't realize that he didnt have traction, and never let off the gas to correct the angle. I'll bet he even drove through the water box. Not only that but if you have street tires, the last thing you want to do is come out of the hole spinning your wheels. The best way to launch on street tires is to get the car rolling first then get on it hard.
Not always the case

So Porsche should stop making the Cayenne and the Turbo Cayenne?

Cherokee SRT8 is no slouch anywhere

even though they clean it..it still has an effect on traction..the cleaning process eats up some of the previous rubber layed down earlier in the day..thats why alot of times on the NHRA circuit when there is a spill or accident we switch lanes because all of the traction is not there anymore due to the cleaning of the spill etc

Depends how nice the track was that he was racing on. I've been to low-end tracks where the staff was less than stellar. My buddy was cleared to go with his SRT4, and when he got up to the line he saw a slick about 20ft off the line, he had to point it out to track staff and ask them to clean it up. Not saying thats the case here, just that it is a possibility.

I agree, the guy looks inexperienced, but he did everything right except drive it so I won't hate on him for it. As long as it was his car, it's all good. I bet that next time hes more careful on the launch. Condolences to the guy.

Proof of ownership was not required (at that time) kid signed his name and went racin, second lap turn one put his "DADDY'S" NEW vette into the wall.

I've seen it before:
Guys try to run street tires and keep lowering the air pressure to find a better grip, all this does is cave in the middle of the tire tread, and ultimately with this kind of horsepower will break the tire bead from the rim (instant deflation) that explains the abrupt right turn.

what about jeeps, well there not really SUV's but there pretty awesome to and for a completely stock vehicle you can't get another that can go where they can off road for the price after all thats the point of a SUV to be used like a truck and grocery getter and hauler and play

Alright, let’s not jump to any conclusions. Situations like this happen to the best of us no matter how experienced we are… Lets not all be so judgmental or I might have to get out the big club.

Uhhhh, I don't smoke my tires through the 1/8th mile. If you don't get traction after the 60' back off and get back in it when it hooks. Seems like a dumb move and I think because of the camera angle it looks like more of a sharp turn. The guy was smoking the tires all the way out of the gate, it doesn't take much for the back end to get around on you.

Well if the sarcastic OP wants to bash how a poor young guy drove his Camaro at the track, then I can bash his POS Charger all I want. And yes, Chrysler makes inferior products. Always have and always will. I don't care if it has a HEMI in it. I'll take my LS3 any day of the week over that garbage. And yes, the HEMI 6.1 does not belong in a Jeep Cherokee. Puhlease. It is like putting an LS7 in a Chevrolet Aveo. Are ya serious? Puhlease. Stick to crappy Chargers and Challengers. Thank God they got rid of those annoying Neon SRT's. Man those fart cans suck.

Sarcastic or not, an SUV can have great power, but come on, why put in a HEMI 6.1? Were the Trailblazer SS's that bad too? I'm not being judgemental. Just figures a Dodge guy would post that video here and call one of us out. The nerve. If you need to, close this thread. Nothing but feeding the troll anyway.

Some may ask why supercharge a Cobalt...cuz that crap makes no sense to me but I don't go off bashing Chevy about it..but anyway this thread is about the guy on the drag strip and his Camaro not SUV's..keep it on topic

ok so a TBSS is a waste to

and i've seen a ls1 in a cavalier converted to rw drive kinda cool, hey man i love GM to but i also like Mopar and thats it when it comes to American so im just happy to see that the companies still know there roots and want to please their loyalist if only the gov didn't get involved but thats a completely diff thing that doesn't need to be discussed here

Well, supercharging the Cobalt and keeping the highway MPG's 30-33 is not bad at all. I get 31 MPG's with my Stage 2 Kit. Instead of increasing the engine size, using a boosted application made sense. The car is much more manageable with the increase in horsepower. Now, taking an SUV with bad gas mileage to begin with and then really making it horrible by adding a HEMI 6.1, now your arguement has NO validity. Compare apples to apples and not apples to oranges. Alright, to keep this on topic, if you want to blow this out further, I'll start a new thread in the General section.

To many that engine in a SUV makes sense..some also dont care about gas mileage...my point is many things can be considered useless depending on how you look at it..and now enough is enough.. keep it on topic..it's my last time saying it.
