Demon hunter hit the nail on the head. If our V6ers weighed only that much and had lower gearing we'd be eating up the 2010 and lower mustang GTs and biting on the heals of the current SS and mustang GT, and probably beating them at times.

Bring on 2014 and the new gen 6 Camaro! lol (course, I don't really expect even it to weigh less than 3,500 for the lightest model)

It should it weighs over 500 lbs less. but cost over 9 grand more base price to base price.

I've driven the 370Z that thing flies, but it can be matched by our V6 with some mods. The stock 370z 1/4 ET is 13.36. I'm pretty sure ROD1's best NA time is pretty damn close to that. With a carbon fiber drive shaft and better gears our V6's would be ripping mid 13's pretty easily...

3 reasons I disagree with the Nissan being so damn good.

First it is a Nissan.

Second the base price cost over $9,000. more.

Third it gets worse gas mileage on the highway.

It's only advantage is weight over 500 lbs. lighter.

Sorry I will take my Camaro everytime and twice on Sunday.

1/4 mile speed it NOT the only selling feature.

Ahhh, you can't rail on Nissan to bad, I know most on hear aren't fans of any import, but Nissan makes a good car & they know performance. Like I've said in previous posts I owned a 350Z prior and it was a good car. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the Camaro hence the reason I bought it over a 370Z. Although there's a $9000 price deference, you also have to look at what your getting. there is a lot of performance features the 370z has that I wish the Camaro did. Although they're both V6's, they are not exactly apples to apples, Nissan is a great example of what V6 engines are capable of, whether you like them or not performance wise the 370Z and GT-R are pretty amazing. I think in another year or two you'll start seeing our cars putting up some serious performance numbers once the Camaro V6 mod market catches up with whats available for the Nissans.

I am sure they do make a good car. However, it is the import part I have a problem with. My dad retired from Ford and I work for GM. For 9 grand more just get the Camaro V8 and then you beat the Nissan all day long. Both in the 1/4 mile and looks. IMHO.

Thanks

the V6 tranny is made by a Japanese company and the car is made in Canada... not exactly good ol' US of A... but either way the V6 Camaro does have great horse power from a relatively small V6. more than my Impala SS with the LS4 in it.
it is a beautiful car and a blast to drive.
