With all of the downforce from the rear wing, I felt I needed a bigger splitter to try to balance the car. As it is, Travis told me that my front end is a bit lifted going down the main straight. I think the car would push with the wing and just the stock splitter. I drool when I see the Z/28's splitter and fender flares, that's a well designed system.

I found one on the lot with only two options- RS and 1LE. That kept the price down so I could spend the difference on mods. Plus, I got a '13 when the '14s were due out, so they gave me a deep discount. In the end, I did an ARH full exaust so I'm glad I didn't get the dual mode.

I'm a big believer in instruction. Before I got into tracking my friend had a piece of advice: Upgrading the nut behind the wheel is the best tracking mod you can do, LOL.

At Spring Mountain I took the Ron Fellows Level 1 Corvette School, tracked a few times, went back for Level 2, and recently took a two day private lesson there. Tremendous experience, and lots of fun. At very least the Level 1 school is something that even an experienced track rat can learn from. The mix of classroom theory with behind the wheel coaching is invaluable in understanding safe car control.

Who did the roll cage? Also how did you deal with the airbag and dash light when removing stock seats.
Hey Lio,

Driver's seat is an Evo, and passenger seat is an Evo II (US, I believe). The only difference is that the Evo is a little narrower, which keeps my narrow ass properly planted. The Evo II is more comfortable for a variety of passenger sizes and shapes.

Roll bar was fabbed by Tracklogic Motorsports in Rocklin. A little north of you.

Good thing they're beefy, I came around a big sweeper to find a plastic wheel housing liner right in the racing groove! I smacked it at over 100 mph, it slightly bent the splitter struts but otherwise escaped unscathed. I was lucky!
Thanks. I'll look forward to the pics. My 1LE is to be at the dealer tomorrow or Wed so I'm patiently awaiting it's arrival.

Though I had seen your car at Tracklogic. It's pretty bad ass to be sure. Hope to see you at the track someday. I'm fairly local to T-hill and have run there in a different car. Have yet to run the ZL. Thought I'd drop you a note and say your cars rocks, and I enjoy reading your write ups.

Hey Orange Crush,
Curious what Brake set up you are running? Looks like the stock 1LE calipers but can't tell for sure. I'm sure you are running different pads but I was curious about the caliper/rotor set up you are using....if you are willing to share that info anyhow.

Thanks.

Well I had already pulled the airbag fuse before I did the seats to avoid the risk of them going off when I track, so I do have the annoying airbag warning and dash light. I have to clear the warning by touching the menu button, but the red airbag light stays on. I might just stick a black sticker over it. Tacky, I know, LOL. It doesn't bother me much.

No kidding? Small world. Did you buy your ZL1 from them? They had one for sale a while back.

I'll be at Thunderhill June 7 - 8 with Hooked on Driving. Any chance you can make it? It's the new 5 mile course, and unfortunately it's selling out quick. A Group is already sold out on Saturday.

Thanks.
Just stock calipers and rotors so far. Hawk HP+ pads, stainless lines, Motul 600 fluid. It's working surprisingly well. I was taught to brake earlier and longer, rather than threshold brake at the last minute. This has advantages. Tires don't overheat, you can run consistently faster laps longer than if you hammer the brakes. So I don't seem to need them, yet any way. But everyone's driving style is different. I'll probably do aftermarket rotors at very least, maybe even bigger calipers. But for now, don't seem to need them.

I just checked and both A and B are sold out, so I missed this one. I have not tracked this car yet so I'd want to start over in A, esp with the new layout. I may drop in as an observer.

No I didn't buy it there, but they do have a cool selection of cars.

I'll send you a PM if I can find a way to participate, or can just make it there to check out the fun.

Which fuse is the air bag ones? Where is it? And which air bags exactly will deactivate?

I was wondering when you were going to post. I almost couldn't wait to spill the news how amazing you and your Camaro ran yesterday!

It was great to watch your Camaro eat up the white GT3 Porsche and all the super high dollar Cadillacs.

Glad I had an excuse (putting miles on the car) to drive out.

It's killing me that I don't have an event planned for the Camaro until July. I had one planned for May but it got cancelled. I'll have to squeeze one in somehow. Good luck at Fontana Kirk, wish I could join you guys.

Good vid. It said her ZR1 is stock except for aero, but I don't think hers was stock at Buttonwillow. I can't imagine a stock ZR1 + aero running a 1:52 at Buttonwillow, the track record in an ACR is 1:55. Interesting, hopefully I'll get a chance to talk with her more at an upcoming event.

See you at Thunderhill Brian.

It's one of the fuses in the box panel at the driver's end of the instrument panel. It's marked, that's about all I can remember. I assume it deactivates all airbags, Sean that races the black Camaro showed me the one to pull.

Apparently you can (or will be able to) buy a harness that plugs into the wiring and fool the computer into thinking the seats are connected. Ever heard of something like this?

OC 1LE,

Man, it looks like your mods really paid off. Your car sticks like glue in those corners. I had to double check the speed readouts to make sure I was seeing them correctly. Don't you just love it when a plan comes together. I am so glad everything worked out they way you wanted it to. Your car is smoking it on the track man.

I am going to go watch your video a few more times.

Don't forget to include these in the new Road Course and Auto X area.

T.

Here's how the splitter support struts are mounted: First, the JDP tow hook is mounted to frame with all of the holes shown in the first image. Next, a horizontal plate is bolted to the tow hook in the middle, and the ends are supported by custom L-brackets that are mounted to the same frame member that the tow hook mounts to. The support struts are attached at the very ends of the horizontal plate. It's hard to show it in pictures, but hopefully 2nd picture will give you an idea.
