I am going to go watch your video a few more times.

Don't forget to include these in the new Road Course and Auto X area.

Thanks TBone, I'm really pleased with the results. I just posted a link to this in the new Road Course forum, glad you got that going.

Orange, what camera and track recording set up are you running and what version of Harry's lap timer?

I use Harry's Grand Prix Edition on an iPhone5, along with a Dual Electronics XGPS160 GPS Receiver (much more accurate lap timing than the iPhone's GPS), and a Go Point BT1 Bluetooth OBD Scan Tool Interface. The Go Point may not be available now, but other similar products likely are. The BT1 seamlessly integrates accurate speed, RPM, throttle, gear selection to Harry's, which automatically overlays this with the vid.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the Go Point to connect Bluetooth with my iPhone (probably needed to forget the device then re-connect), so it didn't overlay speed, RPM, Etc.

However, the previous time I tracked it worked. This is what Harry's vids look like when with Go Point and the GPS antenna are bluetoothed to the iPhone. This is a vid from Willow Springs a couple of months ago:

She has a zr1 and a z06. She always says they are off days. Her cars are fully race prepped.

Some of those d3 cars are true race cars. Just the drivers are eh.

Its a driver thing, good job man. The big aero is tempting but it would slow me down at fontana. Did you do a thread with your trailor set up? You got a mini one lap set up its sick!

I thought her cars were race prepped, her ZR1 was the one at Buttonwillow and I caught a quick glance. No interior, so the car has been lightened. I could see those bad ass carbon ceramic brakes, the big wing, and it looked like it was lowered. Perhaps the Laguna Seca vid is prior to her latest mods. In any case, hats off to her. There were plenty of people at the track with extremely modded cars and she bested us all by 3 seconds!

The wing's adjustable, you can set it to 0 degrees angle of attack which still gives you significant downforce but very little drag. I've run it at 6 degrees and 10 degrees. I ran a 1:58.14 at 6 degrees and a 1:57.47 at 10 degrees. Not sure where the sweet spot is, which I'm sure is different for every track.

Thanks man, the trailer really makes it convenient. Haven't had a chance to write it up yet. Tools, jack and Hoosiers all loaded up and ready to go, makes tracking easy. Plus, some tracks such as Willow Springs are over 5 hours away, just not worth it to drive on R compounds there and back.

Do you have any pics under the car showing how the trailer hitch is mounted/attached to the car. Just curious what that looks like. Did you get the small trailer hitch with a 1.5" receiver?

Nick,

It's a Hidden Hitch 1-1/4" Class I with Draw Bar, made specifically for our Camaros. eTrailer.com sells them, along with harness kits. Here are a couple of pics. Reasonably light too.

Brian,

The trailer is a 3.5' x 5' from Lowe's, I think I paid $409. Then I added a couple of locking aluminum boxes to hold the jack and tools, and a rubber cargo mat. It works, but I'm not done tweaking the set up.

Thanks for the pics. It looks pretty hidden under there. Hidden but functional. The practical side of me says this is a great option (and much less expensive than a tow vehicle and car trailer) for expanding your cargo capacity and getting all the equipment to the track. Another part of me just doesn't know if I could ever put a trailer hitch on my Camaro!

But I don't think you have committed a sin or anything by putting one on yours. It serves it purpose and obviously hasn't hurt your performance on the track any!! Some day if I get more into tracking I just might have to follow your lead on this one.

The alternative - a car trailer plus enough truck to comfortably pull it all - is a much larger investment and lots harder for many people to justify.

Yeah I hear ya on that. That's what I was eluding to with my comment in bold above. That's why the practical side of me thinks it's a great option!

I borrowed a friend's harbor freight trailer that pulls behind his track car, and was sold on the idea. I don't have the room, funds, nor the time for a car trailer and truck. I can fit two cars and my mini trailer in my garage. So when I'm ready to track, I just hook it up and go! Reduces packing, loading, and unloading time.

Hey Todd, i was thinking you seem to be able to get around the circuit Have you ever heard of Miller motorsports http://www.millermotorsportspark.com...nasa-utah.html This is the single reason im not racing Silverstate this year, i simply have to run there. I was there for the inaugural Superbike race(just after my superbike days ended :(....)and new i had to be there. The track is like 4 miles, and the front stretch is almost 1 mile. Any chance you can make it out, im planning on running Aug 15-16th Ive been hinting to Brian about going as well.

Man that does sound fun, but I just mapped it - 11 hour drive!
Tempting, but my plan is to run the new Thunderhill 5-mile course June 7 - 8 to get my big track fix

Maybe next year
