Angry Horrific Car Forum Fails

Many car forums around the net have DIY and "help me please" threads that have achieved notoriety. A few other forums have compiled lists of these fails, so I figured somebody ought to bring this circus to Camaro5. Here we go. Please link in other examples as there are surely countless failures over the net.

These unfortunate souls received a visit from the "Good Idea" Fairy. Read on and learn so that she doesn't visit you as well...

Highly Viscous Fluid Fails
The Legendary NOS Incident.

That red flashing light shaped like an oil can on your instrument panel is not the "time to go street racing" light...

More people would be gear heads if all you had to do to fix a car was buy some goop and pour it into your crank case.

Poured 8qts. of transmission oil into crankcase. ATTN: The female threads for the oil fill cap are NOT the engine oil "full line".
Drivetrain Assassinations.
Instead of a nice clean side separator why not just use the sock off your foot?.

When your CV joints are busted straightening out the boot just isn't going to correct the problem... No matter how many times you keep doing it.

Flushing your engine oil can be a healthy and beneficial practice, and all you need to do this are some simple tools and a garden hose. You'll know that the oil is completely flushed when the engine seizes.

[Found: FenwickHockey65, post #20] Custom sand blasted intake porting job on running engine.
All Show And No Go/ Rolling Deathtraps.
Looked great until the crash. Applied Armor All to the side walls and treads of new tires. Literally Armor All'ed.

DIY painted brake rotors! (Original link lost, so this is the Jalopnik version)

Custom lowering kit. I hope this person is still alive.

Tricked out Mercury Cougar. "Who doesn't want a home theater in their car?"

[Found: Mindz, Post #71] When waxing, washing, and polishing become too much to bear it's nice to know that Rhino Liner is there for you.

Needed to stretch 15" tires to fit an 18" wheel. I wonder how this turned out.
Little Chop Shops of Horror
Last I checked, a ground effects package install shouldn't require the use of wood screws. Hate to see a brand new 350z treated like this. A rather sad tale.

This one happened on Camaro5. This car was completely abused by the shop Hard Core Muscle. Google search for Ernie Sigala and you will be absolutely mortified.

Engine swap nightmare. The owner of this car probably wished they'd stuck with the stock rotary engine.

A wiring nightmare like no other.

No need to worry about all that "clearance" nonsense with your hella flush drop project. Besides, your drive shaft and axles spin at a fast enough RPM to grind themselves free of any obstructions your frame causes.

Always nice to find your ride gutted out in the corner of a garage collecting dust after your turbo project has taken over two years. [sarcasm] What a professional tuner! [/sarcasm]
Forced Air Reduction
N2O install involved drilling into valve cover. No noticeable gains, but the valve springs have been nice and cool.
Corvette direct exhaust injection (DEI). Sheer genius. This is a really good thread, the first response confirms it.

Using an ice tray in your homebrewed cold air intake may show some decent gains, but your horsepower curve is really gonna drop off after the hydrolocking.

Electric turbo charger. Stalls the car at idle, but adds a lot of high end power. Hmmm.

Turbo not spooling up soon enough? No prob, just weld on some more impeller blades.

This user just needed their new intercooler identified, but they committed a rather large awareness fail.
Spoke Too Soon
[Found: Steve Dallas, post #2] Acura thread ruins marriage.
Sometimes that cop that wrote you a "bogus ticket" has the internet at home too.

The Nick Sitko Incident (google it too). Epic internet beat-down.

Car thief steals a '91 Skyline GTR. Victim posts what happened on a forum. Justice ensued.

Pics or it didn't happen.

If you're going to be dead wrong about something on the internet you should never ever admit it. Stay strong and stick to your incorrect statements. And, if all else fails...
...Create a new thread entirely dedicated to your dangerously ignorant beliefs. Either everyone will see you were actually right, or you'll just get banned. Such is life.

The anonymity of internet mediated interactions is all fun and games until you call out a celebrity and they destroy you in front of your friends.

Just Figure It Out As You Go
[Found: LostPony, Post#42] Wooden Go-Kart of death.
Built an engine in basement without any means of removing said engine from said basement.

You're having a bad day when you have to choose between Acetone and Methylethylketone to clean the Herculiner off your "hootus".

Motorcycle ram air mod. Shouldn't there be more "frame" on your frame?

Gotta hate it when you just want to remount your license plate and that pesky ECU is directly on the other side of the body panel you drilled through.

I've never seen anybody get beaten so badly by a lock nut. Thank goodness they had a Sawzall handy.
Fail Reversals
The Incredible Dollyman. HOA put a boot on his car for parking in the street outside his home, and he made the HOA regret it.

Gruesome Fails: NSFW or NSFLB (lunch breaks)
[Found: Reineke, Post #56] Guy knocks a couple fingers off cleaning his bike chain with the engine running. People then start posting their own missing finger pics (the finger-lickin' goodness can be found if you read it backwards from the last post).

MythBusted/Trolling
[Found: Mr. iNCREDIBLE, Post #65] The Jakester, AKA Stunnerific_Jake, rather artfully (embellishment) trolled Gixxer. Good for a laugh. I made it one sentence in before slapping my forehead.
Differential welding should not involve the ring or pinion gears in any way, shape, or form. Original pic can be found here.
Off Topic: Non-Car-Related Fails. Really Good Stuff Here.
[Found: SSE 4 2SS, POST #32] The Korean Shed of Doom. You will laugh until you cry.
The Mall Ninja: Mall security Rapid Tactical Force. "If plan A is to take multiple .338 shots to the back you need to come up with a plan B".

The Martin Cole/ Anus Laptops Saga. Poor helpless scammers ran afoul of the wrong scambaiter.

In this forum, devoted to Dave Mathews Band, failure has run amok such that the Mods saw it fit to create a Sub-forum for "Epic Threads". I probably wouldn't click this at work. It's a website devoted to Dave Mathews Band, folks. Just use your better judgement.

If you're going to show off your super awesome new desktop background with a screenshot and post it on a forum, then you probably also better go to the trouble of removing any embarrassing folders. Not-NSFW but like the link directly above... yeah.

I wonder if that can possibly be true.
puts me in mind of a segment abc did on 20/20 back when Fast and Furious 1
was out, about the street racing scene.
this one guy had a 4thgen Trans Am, had and wife in a kid in a little apartment....and spent 2K a month on his car

This also made its way to Fark.com, and they tracked the guy down to the bar where he was a bouncer. Story checked out...

Yea and later in the thread he talked about changing transmission fluid by taking off his "hand grenade" shifter knob and pouring it down "the hole"....

Yeah, he may have been confused on that one lol. There was an srt4 thread where somebody drilled their oil filter and ran the car to "flush the oil". But I guess the moderators were merciful and deleted it.

Sandblasting sand in intake.

There was also a thread where a kid pretended to own a CLS63 AMG or something and the real owner showed up and owned him.
