Anyone have any way to cover up the seat rails?

I would like to dress up the seat rails, anyone know of a good way to do this? I would think that GM would have created some sort of "moveable cover" that goes back and forth with the seat that would also cover the rails.

Any ideas?

I don't even know what seat rails are. Are you talking about the tracks the seats move in on the floor?

Why do you want to cover them?

Not sure about yours, but when I get into my car, this is what I see. (Don't mind the dirt on the floor mats.)

Honestly I'd be more bothered by how dirty the car is.

I cleaned it all up on Saturday, but with the rain and stones, this is Monday morning for me. She is getting a vaccum and clean as soon as I get out of work....

If thats how your floor looks every 3 days...please dont worry about how the seat tracks look...nobody will notice!! I think you need to focus on installing retractable boot brushes somewhere!! Or spend the money on a different car to go muddin in....like a 4x4!!

You mean to tell me that you have never had dirt on your car mats? The park where I was at had a stone driveway, and going in and out of the car a few times picked all these up. and I wasn't about to stand out there trying to pick them off my shoes with it raining. Where did you get the idea that it is every 3 days? It is only from this weekend.
So I would assume that you do not have any suggestions then.

if it really bothers you, you could hit the salvage yard and see what cars use covers that might work. there are only 3 big seat suppliers... some of the parts are standard among them all. I'm sure that supplier offers a cover that might snap on or you can mod to work. maybe check out some higher end cars like corvette, cadillacs, etc. My '97 BMW has covers.

other idea I had was maybe try to cover with carpet... seems like they sell this same black nylon carpet at most hardware stores.

Honestly, The seat tracks is not a big deal to me. I would suggest to not look down when you get in. If you feel you REALLY need to cover them. Maybe use some type of cloth sleeve you'd have to make. If you do that though, you will be placed on my crazy person list

I didn't even think it was that dirty. I take pride in how clean I keep my car, and I have more dirt on my mats than that. I live in the country and on a dirt road- it's to be expected! I guess I never really paid attention to the rails until you told me to look for them! I don't think anyone else notices them. They're in all vehicles.

I'm paging through my BMW catalog to see if I can see anything, and even BMW doesn't have much to cover them up. They cover the sides, but nothing over the top - kinda the nature of the beast.

Maybe you could get creative and try some covers from another car? Any junk yards near you? I doubt they'd charge much if anything for some rear rail covers from a 5-series.

At $39 bucks a piece employee cost I'm hesitant to order some in and take a look. They just cover the sides, but wrap around all sexy-like in the front.

Better? Can we now get off the fact that I had some dirt on my floor mats?

The inner rail is not a big deal, but I have had a few people comment on the outer rail, and how it just seems to stick out.

I'll just have to see if I can do something with it, or maybe not.. I'm not going to spend too much time on it, I was only asking if others had covered it.

Upon second look - I think you'd be better off getting some adapters made to move the entire rail/seat back. Then say to hell with short people driving your car. lol

You need some Weather Tech floor liners in there. Those carpets won't stay looking new for long with that much dirt everyday.

That is not a normal day, I posted above that it was because of the weather and the stone driveway in the park I was at.

Don't ever lose that great optimism about GM. They don't give a shit about seat rail covers, but God bless you for your optimism.

There are 'bellows' type covers for things like milling machines, to keep chips out. The 'guide rail covers' listed here are closer to what you mean

Here is a COB way to cover the rails. I rough cut an oil bottle (guess which brand) and it fits over the rail. You would need to use 3M two sided tape to hold it in place.
