Leftover ls3's from the corvette

Any possibly we are getting leftover corvette ls3's with the higher horsepower in our 1le's. It was done when the ls1's from the vette was going into the camaros bc the ls2's came out.

Or could it be GM has upped the HP on the ls3 & not said anything for whatever reason. Thoughts on this.

From what others had reported, with the NPP and electric steering, that is easy 10-12 hp! A little hear and a little there can add up!

how does electric steering add extra hp to our cars? I want more though haha I'm about to get a CAI and soon a throttle body, hopefully that'll do something.

A belt driven P/S pump requires more effort to operate than an electric unit, robbing more HP. Think of your A/C when the compressor clutch engages, you can feel it robbing power, the belt driven P/S is the same way except it is always "on".

I doubt it. Factory under-rated from day one.

I thought the LS2 came out after the 4th Gens went out of production....I could be wrong tho, its been a while...

I know the '01-'02 Fbodies got a LS6 intake and a minor cam/fuel injector adjustment, but that happened all the time thru the years anyway....

Sorry but OP, you just fell into GM's classic marketing about Vette. Same engine from A to Z. The only diffetence are the electric PS pump and NPP. The drivetrain on the Vette robs less HP too. Thats all.

Engine were all the same since day one in Vette and Camaro (97-02). Ls2 came out in 05, with the C6. The LS6 made the difference in hp in 01-02 in fbodies. Of course the Z06 had the LS6 back then. LS6 in f-bodies was more a rumor than anything.

The 2010-11' L99 had horrible tunes from factory. They got a lot better in 2013.

The 1970 Camaro Z28's had the same LT1 as the Corvette, but 10 less horsepower, 360 vs 370. The exhaust was one reason given, but Chevy (GM) just could not have a Camaro with the same hp as a Corvette.

I was waiting for someone to say this!!! GM uses the same engine in different applications, and they rate them according to their marketing strategy; Thus the corvette will almost always have the highest power rating among the GM fleet.

The '97 fbodies had the LT1 in them, a select few had a LT4...
