Spacers

Is it bad to use spacers? I'm finding it hard to find any wheels that fit the SS otherwise..

I am new to what spacers really are, whats the problem with them?

Thanks in advance..

well there are regular spacers and there are wheel adapter/spacers.

regular spacers are just that, a spacer that goes between the brake/wheel hub and the wheel itself to move the wheel outward

one problem that is seen with these is that you have less wheel stud protruding for the lug nuts to tighten onto which can lead to lug nuts being pulled off or wheel studs being broken depending on how thick the adapter is.

the other style of spacer is the adapter spacer that uses the stock wheel studs and has its own set of studs to mount the wheel to

a couple problems with these is that you now have more isht to break as well as putting stress on the stock wheel studs as well because now you have an extra link in the drivetrain chain.

none of the problems I listed are frequently seen, nor should they scare you from using spacers. I am currently running 1.25" spacer/adapters on my 94Z to fit my 18" C5 Z06 wheels on the back of the car.

Good info I was a little concerned about this as well! Orange5thGen: I'm pretty sure H&R makes a 20mm adapter/hubcentric spacer like the one above that uses the stock studs and its own.
